Default my poor EP3(DIY body work help)

I got tagged by another driver and the result is my passenger door is messed up and so is my front fender, as far as I can tell the damage is just to the sheet metal so I am going to start by replacing my fender DIY.. the lady who hit me had insurance and they cut me a check but I have some other repairs I want to knock out at the same time so I am going to DIY as much as I can so when I get it painted it will cover all my door dings/dents and such..

I have had project vehicles before and have done body work on old VWs, as far as I can tell replacing the fender on the EP3 is a pretty straight forward bolt on job correct? Is there anything I should look for to make sure that there is no other damage before I start this?

As far as the fender goes, it's pretty much just removing the old and installing the new. The rest of the body work though, are you looking for tips or techniques?

Well the rest of it is just pulling dents, sanding, filling etc.. before paint. I can handle that. I just want to make sure that there is no other damage that I am over looking as the insurance claims dude did not tell me anything.

here are some pictures of the damage:

I love this car and I want to fix it up proper, I am going to be hitting that 100k mark in the next year or so and want to have her nice and ready for the engine swap

You will more than likely need to remove the fender to notice any other damage. Does the door open and close with out hickup?

yeah it opens and closes fine, it didnt when i first got hit because the fender had kind of bent under it a bit but i pulled it clear and it works fine, lines up and everything.. I can probably get away with re-skinning this door(it has a pretty nasty dent in the bottom from an incident with a drunk girl..) my drivers side door frame is pretty messed up from the dude who hit it with a brick(caught him the act, sucked)

long story short, caught a guy inside my car, when confronted he charged me.. I live in Texas so a pistol legally convinced him to run at an Olympic pace in the other direction.. I have not been able to roll my window up or down since and still find pieces of glass in the car every now and then

also i noticed that there is a scratch/gouge in my rim there, I guess she hit my wheel too but i did not notice any damage to the suspension/steering, it needed an alignment before I got hit and other than it being a tad bit worse now it seems driveable and solid

I know.. it took me a year to find one used that I liked and its been nothing but bad luck ever since.. door dings, drunk girls slamming doors into things, accident, break in, 3 blowouts, a/c problems still love my car though and am probably never going to sell it.

Holy crap! I've had plenty of cars on the side, but whenever one comes up that's just bad luck, I just get rid of it. I wouldn't want to risk it gettin' worse yah dig.

Not to say anythings gonna happen but one of my old EG's, after I finally got rid of it due to stupid repetitive problems (bad luck), a week later the chick I sold it too totalled it. Kind of scary to think that could have been me. She wasn't hurt or anything but still...

Your best bet is taking the car to a body shop obviously

DIY then just purchase another fender and that door doesn't look like it needs a new skin unless the picture above is not accurate.

yeah its got a gouge/dent from the accident but it has a pretty nasty dent on the bottom of the door where someone slammed it into a mailbox post. Insurance says about $1400 for repairs and that is probably about right since it would have to be painted/color matched.. my issues is that I have other body work around the whole car that I want to take care of and if I was able to DIY the majority of it I could just have the whole car sprayed for not much more than just doing a few panels.

good luck man. wish the best to you and the ep. and i thought i hadbad luck lol. kid fell on my car and put this nasty dent.

kid gave me 200 and nvr saw him since. the body shop said 1100 dollars to fix it and move that window down some because the guy who had the car before had window broken into and they did a shitty job putting the new one on. the car was stock when i got it. and new year eve someone side swiped my car!! i was pissed but poped the dent out myself. then i got my new fogs a week later one of the lens crack. i get new rims one of the stud break and 3 other get crossed thread due to a retarded friend helping me . i fixed that too. now i need a throw out bearing i think or main shaft thing. but im getting my swap soon!!.
