225/45R16 on Stock SH Wheels?
Hey guys,
I heard 225's should fit on the Stock SH wheels which are 6.5" wide from what I've read. When go searching for tires on tirerack, for example, all my 225 tire options recommend at least a 7" wide tire.
My other option is to go with some 215's.
I'm trying to figure out whats going to be better in my case, Im looking for grip and of course treadwear matters but if we were to make traction and handling a priority what would be my best case?
225's with some sidewall sag vs 215's that fit fine?
Thanks again, ask me if any clarification is needed. In case youre interested here are the models I was considering:
The 225's:
BFGoodrich
g-Force T/A KDW 2
The 215's (215/50R16):
The General Exclaim

205s are the widest I would go on stock rims. They already overhang the wheel lip by 0.75" on each side, and that's before the weight of the car is on them.
You might also consider that the SH rims are 19.8lbs each. You could get a lighter rim (better for power/acceleration) that is 7.5" wide and will fit your 225s like a glove.

doubt this is much help to you but this is what your 225/45/16 bf goodrich ta looks like on a 7in rim on a ek civic. its a LOT of tire. i would liken it to the azenis, where as they are a bit beefier than the sizing indicates.

Edit: Thanks What. looks like they fit perfectly there, hopefully wont be a big difference on mine. I noticed the picture change too haha.
