Default 97 Cl - accord auto trans interchange question

just looking for a final confirm on this. most everything i can find points to the JDM f22b SOHC vtec engine and trans that come from the accord as being a direct fit in the 2.2 CL provided the sensors are changed. has anyone tried one of the JDM trannies in the CL? do they fit? work? trying to get something solid before i do this project for a friend of mine

and transmission case. i verified the part numbers and they are identical. from what i've found the past couple days it's only the electronics that need to be changed over. mechanically they are compatible

i believe the 97 CL uses a f22bx motor, so any f22bx tranny will work. i currently am using a 92 accord ex (f22a6) tranny on a f22b sohc vtec motor. in your case, not sure about transmissions but make sure you get an OBD2 tranny. Not sure if OBD1 and OBD2 trannys vary or not.

from what i gather it's only the electronics that differ. the case and gearing is the same. since no true obd2 JDM engines or trannies are available what i found was

1. you need to change the distributor
2. you probably need to change vtec for the oil pressure switch just like B series
3. oil pump needs to be obd2 for the CFS
4. any electronic plug in on the trans has to be swapped with the old unit.

this of course assumes you will run your OEM USDM ecu

other than that the 94-97 JDM accord uses the same SOHC VTEC F22B as the CL with the F22B1, there is just no "1" just like the b18c and b18c1 or 5 which are country specific
