1993 Honda Civic Si, ....was going to buy it
I was flying to Philadelphia this week to buy this 93 Si.
The car looks pretty nice from afar but pay close attention to the rear wheel wells. This car books around $1,900-$2,200, but this guy was asking $3,500!!! I got him to go to $3,000 citing KBB, NADA, Edmunds but he says they don't truly reflect the true value of this car or Honda's in general. I said to myself, ok, I can understand them being of by a couple hundred bucks but nearly $1500, surely all 3 can't be wrong.
Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay or what the market will bare. I told him I will fly out and drive it back and that's when he hit me with the radiator is cracked, I said no big deal (rad is only $89 my cost.)
So finally after a few days his wife sends me the additional requested photos, and low and behold my worst fears were confirmed and then some. I knew there was some rust and I was planning on replacing the quarter panels anyway, but they just won't come off their price citing "well we have offers," and I said to myself, "well if you have offers why are you even entertaining selling the car to me, and I'm out of state."
Here are the pics of the rust and the shoddy rust repair.

It looks like they folded out the lip of the wheel well, cut the rust off and folded the lip back up. Did the person who did the repair even know about patch panels?
So for $3000 plus travel expenses I get a car that's worth about $2,000 AND I have to replace the radiator, quarter panels @ $600 a piece plus paint, labor and materials and whatever else I find? I don't think so.

id give him no more than 1400$. Needs way to much work for 3500$. And that was just a little outside rust, I wonder what it looks like under those side skirts...

you're from arizona and you are flying to philly to buy a rusty hatch? you are surrounded by states with cars that have never seen snow. why would you buy something from the northeast?

The guys name is Maurice and the wife is Ann. I realize about the surrounding states, I wasn't specifically looking for an Si as much as I was an unmolested 92-95 Hatch. I have been combing all kinds of sites, what's available is either someones project, or Honda pride pricing.
Dude, there must be something wrong with you to fly across the country for that car. There's stuff everywhere to be bought. Especially if being an Si isn't a MUST HAVE, but just an unmolested hatch? I've seen MINT hatches go for less than that 100 times. I've bought and sold Honda's for over ten years now and you damn sure won't see my flying across the country for no 92-95 hatchback unless that is seriously something special I can't pass (i.e. K20a swapped with dyno sheets and time slips for 5000.00)
yeah i dont know why people want so much for there hagard hondas.... it doesnt make sense...
here is one listed in wyoming; for 3000...

If the car had Zero rust it would have been worth it to ME
Please direct me to a 92-95 hatchback that is completely stock, has working AC, especially an Si that is free of major defects for $2500 and I'll buy it and give you $100 company check.
it aint worth wat hes asking, offer him 1500 cause honestly thats what it worth with those rust spots and the rear bumper not fitting
ok, the car appeared to be legit AT FIRST then I got the detailed images of the area I was concerned about.
As I have said before, had it been free of rust I would have been ok with paying $3k and the cross country drive. I was going to stop in Atlanta and visit my sister too.

ok, I understand the sister thing, but have you considered looking for cars in California?! It's way closer, there are tons of Civics, and there's no rust.
