My First Build ever. (help me out)
Alright guys so Im planing on going Ls/vtec. My project car is an 89 crx si. I got it for $300 so you can only imagin the POS!! look it had when I purchased it. Now that I finally got the interior looking decent I want to start building my first Bseries And I need yours guys advice/ input and help.
I Just bought an 97Gsr head and want to rebuild it. I want to make an All-motor build.(anywhere from 200+whp) Since I never built any thing like this before I wanted to know where to start. And what to do. I want all aftermarket parts also. I can probably dissasemble the head myself. here the things I want to know. what does the head consist of meanings parts. I know there are valves, cams, cam caps, springs and retainers,... anything else lmk. What kind of prep do I have to do to the head. And in order to achieve that HP what stuff can I buy. I need good parts and also good prices.
Ill keep using this thread as I progres in my build. Ill be doing it in steps so Ill stay on topic with it. Like the head first, then the short block, then the trans. So I'd apprecite everyone professional advice and any suggestions on build. Im new and ready to learn.

Lumpy cams, larger bore, higher compression pistons, stiffer valve return springs, new gaskets. Probably a good place to start. The higher the RPM you can push, the more power you'll make.
Any special kind of tools Ill need to disassemble the head? LMK. Ill be taking some pics of the head and put them up later today. What are some good suppliers for valves and springs? I heard super-tech made some good parts. Any one have any feed back on them. I'd really appreciate it Thanx.
Alright guys So I took my gsr head apart today. It wasnt so bad. Im ready for port n polish. Anyone know some good companies that do good work with a fair price? Im really trying to get this done ASAP so pls let me know! As for vavles and spring and retainer what company can I go with? I was told today that I could use the same valves I just got to send them to get cleaned,right?!.(if I get new aftermarket valves will I get more HP compared to the stock ones ? LMK) I know I want to use after market spring and retainers so I think ima sell those.
I've heard nothing but good things about bisimoto (www.bisimoto.com). Does some great specialist work for NA Hondas.
Dam Im guessing those are some good prices for the work bisimoto does. I think Ima look into others also. But I will keep Bisi in mind. Thanx ~sp33~
