Default Clutch shudders when engaging

I'm using a 96' Y8 clutch disk and pressure plate with my 89' tranny. When I put it in first and ease the clutch out to get moving, the whole car shakes like mad. I've adjusted the engagement, so I figure it must be something to do with the way I've installed it. Is it likely that the pressure plate or throwout bearing is royally screwed? It still engages well when I actually race at the strip (sometimes chirp 3rd), it's just stop and go driving that is REALLY unpleasant.

maybe dumb question but did you resurface the flywheel? if the clutch was new and the flywheel needed to be resurfaced, that will make it chatter.

Also, really harsh pressure plates will make the clutch chatter..

The clutch is a stock 96' disc and pressure plate. It's a cheap "dyna pack" brand ( In knew I should have went with stock honda but damn it's expensive). I had the flywheel machined too. It does have a lot of "chatter" (by chatter I mean it makes noise until I press the clutch past the engagement point) but the shaking is NOT normal. The whole frickin' car shakes it's very annoying. I have to drive it in a certain way so that the shaking won't jar me or the passenger. Someone pointed out to me that I'm missing the top bolt on the front mount that attaches to the crossmember and tranny. when I rev it, the engine flexes, but I don't think that's the entire cause of my problem. I need another bolt, but the wreckers are all closed until tuesday... (stat holiday on monday here)

You'll have to post the solution once you find one!!!

I have pretty much the same problem - but I'm positive that it's because my flywheel or maybe the pressure plate (or both?) have an uneven surface now. I didn't really break in my new clutch properly when I got it..... Now this thing chatters like mad, the whole car can shake big time. It's very annoying.

Good Luck
