Default Caliper / Bracket interchangability

hello all im wondering if anyone has any input on this article i dug up from Honda civic wagon as far as the truth behind the interchangability of the parts.

The process is exactly as changing pads/rotors. Super simple and a quick procedure!

Parts needed:
'97 TYPE-R Calipers (17CL15VN, same as Accord Wagons)
'97 TYPE-R bracket (23t)
'97 TYPE-R pads
'93 LS rotors
Brake Fluid
Beer

Caliper brackets need to be machined 3.2mm or .127in.

10.3" LS rotor vs. 9.5" RT4wd rotor

RT4wd pad vs. TYPE-R pad (TYPE-R pad is same size as RT4wd caliper  )

Front pad needs to be ground to clear rotor hat.

Comparison of small RT4wd calipers vs. TYPE-R calipers

Finished Product

Spent $50 on the TYPE-R calipers/brackets(thanks noahrexion), $60 on pads/rotors after using my commercial discount at Schucks, and machined the brackets myself. So altogether $110 for almost TYPE-R brakes that stop ****ing amazing, I have to keep myself from faceplanting the steering wheel when I brake hard. Definitely worth it!!!!!!!

I think my next upgrade will be to the 1" MC and brake booster from an Integra to stiffen up the feel of the brake pedal a bit and of course get more fluid moving those big *** calipers.

Here is the list of cars that all use the TYPE-R brake pad so I'm guessing the calipers would be the same or close to it. Something to think about when at the parts yard...

Acura
1997 - 1999 CL
1991 - 2005 NSX
1997 - 1998 Integra
1996 - 1998 RL
2000 - 2001 Integra
1995 - 1998 TL
1991 - 1995 Legend
1992 - 1994 Vigor

Honda
1991 - 2002 Accord (Wagon specific)
1995 - 1998 Odyssey
1997 - 2001 CR-V
1993 - 2001 Prelude

Isuzu
1996 - 1999 Oasis

Does any one have any insight on wether these parts are infact interchangable ?
i know it would be easier to swap the dc kuckls and rear arms but with RT4WD civic wagons we need to use our own arms .

yes, all the parts are interchangeable

the "family" of calipers are as follows...ITR (stamped 17cl15vn), legend gs 2-piston, & the nsx

CALIPER BRACKETS
the calipers all have different brackets...23T, 25T & 28T. this signifies the size rotor it will accept on their designated car (originated from). these brackets will interchange with the 3 calipers listed above.

some use shims or spacers. i prefer the machined bracket method. on 23T brackets, i usually have them milled where the "3" in 23T is sliced in half. the amount shaved must be parallel on both sides.

*on DX knuckles, the machined brackets will clear 10.3" front rotors (found on any 90-01 integra, excl itr).

*on non-DX knuckles (90-01 integra, 90-00 civic EX, del sol B16, 99-00 civic Si), with machined brackets, you'll need to use an 11" front rotor (re-drilled to 4X100 prelude vtec or fastbrakes.com).

both the 10.3" and 11" front rotors are hubcentric;

the 10.3" set-up will clear 14" oem honda del sol 5-spoke wheels,

the 11" set-up will clear 15" oem honda/acura wheels (hammers, blades/swirlies, mesh, 99-00 si)

CALIPERS
the ITR caliper can be found on any of the honda/acura you have listed in your pad list; this caliper is one of the biggest single-piston caliper produced by honda. there are many variants of these calipers (ie., such as inverted bleeders, offered with different brackets), but they're all stamped 17cl15vn.

the legend 2-pot can be found on 94-95 legend gs. the pistons are larger than the nsx calipers.

nsx calipers...need i say more? lol

*some of the ITR calipers will have the bleeders pointing in the wrong direction (because the are rear-mounted); just simply bleed with calipers off the car OR switch the right side-left

PADS
all the pads in your list will swap back and forth. from the factory, with genuine oem honda pads, the quality of material in the pad changes in models such as the ITR & NSX
