RACK and pinion instal-can't seem to find DIY thread with diagram or anything
I will be replacing my rack and pinion now that I finally got it today, and I couldn't really seem to find any threads on how to do it myself because I don't have that type of money to take it anywhere plus I would like to do it for the learning experience..can anyone help?Atleast let me know what I will need -and a paper that came with it mentions that I should flush the old PS fluid out as well...this true? Thanks for any help , and btw it is on a 92 lude
*Salute* Get yourself some flare wrenches and buy/download a Helms manual. It's a pretty involved process and takes a while. It took me a good 5-6 hours to remove the old rack from the car without flare wrenches. Their isn't a lot of room and it's pretty taxing. Helms will walk you through it though. Just set aside a fair amount of time to do it. Luckily I'm going to manual steering so I dont' have to reinstall the line fittings, etc. I just have to rebolt up the rack. The most important thing on this is a Helms manual. There are several items you have to remove to complete this job.
alright thanks alot Im gnna go grab that manual Im sure that would be the most help..
