90 Accord 481k- Gearing up to replace valve seals, need advice.
Hello to all, I've been lurking around these pages since I bought this car and so far have found everything I've been looking for.
The car: 1990 Accord 2.2M - 481750 on the clock.
In the last 4000 or so miles I've noticed it started to burn oil. Then it started smoking on a cold start, and it's only getting worse with no amount of additive stopping it. It always goes away once the engine warms up so I'm convinced that it's valve seals and not piston rings. The car still runs great and pulls well and I'm putting miles on it as fast as I can(gotta get to 500). I'm sure my neighbors hate me in the morning, and I've gotten yelled at a lot in the last 2 weeks in traffic.
I did the head gasket/ T-belt and all that at 460, but skimped and didn't have the head done, just off and back on. I'm planning on doing the valve seals without pulling the head, just putting air in each cylinder. I know I'll have to take the timing belt all apart to get the cam out, and I know I've got some oil coming down the front of the block that gets onto the A/C and Alt belt and makes it squeal when I start it, so I'm gonna do all the front seals at this point too.
My parts list is:
Cam and front crank seals
Valve cover gasket set
Of course 8e and 8i valve seals
Balance shaft seal - this site is also recommending a retainer?
I'm also assuming I'll need 4 Cam Holder O-Rings?
Can you think of anything else that I might have missed? Any advice on completing this repair?
