can u change your trans. from cable to hydro?
Ive been looking every where and cant find exactly what i want. Im doing a motor swap in my brothers 96 civic dx. the motor im ptuing in is a 98 b18b everything is good to go but i have a couple questions ive looked everywhere. The setup i have is a 98b18b and it has a 93 gsr cable trans, the car is already a hydo so my first question is can i convert the trans- mission to hydro if i can how is it done i just need to change the tranny not the car and my last question will all his stock mounts work for the swap thank u

but i dont know the credibility of this.
it would just be safer to buy a hydro tranny
^^ X2.. Don't know too much about trannies but it might be cheaper to just buy a hydro tranny than to convert. Just buy from a reliable source/friend so you'll know what you're getting. I don't know about craigslists for trannies, it's like a gamble.
put on a hydro tranny, you can use the same clutch that is on there already and you need aftermarket mounts. Innovative, hasport, etc.
we have a conversion kit EKCC that allows you put the cable transmission into the 96-00 civic chassis. our conversion kit works with stock or aftermarket mounts.
^ Yup, you need a conversion kit to put a cable transmission in a hydraulic car. There's no simply way to physically alter a cable transmission, and change it into a hydraulic one.
In addition to that, you need the rear mount bracket from a '99-'00 Civic Si. Depending on the driver's side mount bracket that comes with the engine (a 2-stud or 3-stud), you may need a '99-'00 Si driver's side bracket as well (the bracket that is attached to the engine under the timing cover). Or you could go with aftermarket mounts if you have the $ for them.

Just get a hydro tranny. I've heard of issues involving the conversion kits. LS trannys run around 200, GSRs around 350? and there's a lot more of them around if you ever need another. The conversion kit is probably close to the price of an LS as it is...

You just need the conversion kit if you want to use the cable tranny. I would go with a hydro tranny because it is newer, probably has less miles, and most likely does not grind.
Hasport sells a hydro (tranny) to cable (car) conversion kit, but it sounds like you're going the opposite direction. I don't know that anyone sells something like that.
However, you can do it with a hydro bellhousing setup.... put the guts of a cable transmission into a hydro bellhousing. I've seen pictures of it done, but I'm not 100% sure which transmissions you can do it with.

how much does the hasport conversion kit cost and where can i find it need to figure this out before the weeked im looking for hydro trannys right now thanks for the info
I think it was like 92-93 Integra cable transmissions are the "hybrid" years where the gears will fit in a hydro case. But then you're buying a hydro tranny or a case and...it seems counter productive. Just get a hydro trans and bolt it up.
