I Can't Drive: A Historical Account of the Failure That is Me
Well, I guess I could be worse.
Yesterday, I attended a Test-N-Tune at Beaver Springs Dragway, and had all intentions of not running my car, as I wished to provide trackside support to our customers more-so than satisfy my own need to beat on my toy.
But, as it always goes, peer pressure was a bitch.
I decided "what the hell," and claimed I was just going to make a street tire pass or two.
Mind you, this is a 400whp turbocharged K20 Civic coupe, weighing in at 2,650lbs with a full interior and my fat *** in the car + whatever a full tank of gas weighs.
Needless to say, the street tire passes were an exercise in throttle modulation the whole way into fourth gear. (The track was super-slick...
)
Here's a sweet breakdown of my best of two street tire passes.
60ft --- 2.668
330ft --- 7.101
1/8 ET --- 10.404
1/8 MPH --- 79.96
1000ft --- 12.945
1/4 ET --- 14.947
1/4 MPH --- 115.96
I haven't run a 10-second 1/8th, nor 14-second 1/4 in years, ROFL.
So, at that point, I said "screw it" and bolted on some 24.5x8x13 M&H's, aired to 9psi, and went back at it for one last pass.
Here's a breakdown of that pass.
60ft --- 1.818
330ft --- 5.193
1/8 ET --- 7.904
1/8 MPH --- 91.55
1000ft --- 10.185
1/4 ET --- 12.063
1/4 MPH --- 122.14
I did a weak-*** burnout, followed by a launch without a two-step rev limiter/nor anti-lag set up (again, didn't really plan on racing), and a copious amount of wheelspin in second gear (in which I held on the rev limit for a moment too long to try to gain some speed).
Long-story short, my car needs a few things:
- More boost in the midrange (wastegate opens at 8psi and creeps to 12psi by rev limit, so I'm missing a bunch of torque on each shift)
- Anti-lag/Two-step set up
- A driver who isn't afraid to shift quickly and keep the throttle planted :D
Anyway, here's some pretty pictures and a nice video to go along with them.

Nice trap, with practice it's a low-mid 11 car.
**** son, its a street car on pump and traps 122. You should be pretty happy with that. 99.87% of cars that roll up to you on the interstate will get destroyed by ze coupe of death.

I know, there's a sweet dark blue EG in there.
Meh, call me jaded.
Anyway, here's a humorous video of my street tire run.

Damn u really took it easy on that street tire run!, but the car definately has more in it if it traps 122 i would say mid 11's at least, i used to run a 280whp b16 in the same body and ran 12.0's but only at like 113mph, so urs definately has more in it..
