okay so today my associate brings me a cast aluminum flange for the Hks ssqv bov's, and tells me that one of our kits needs this flange welded to it.. so im thinking, "ok w/e.. its cast but it wont be that bad.."

anyways... needless to say i went back and told my associate never to purchase anything that needs to be welded without asking me to look at it first..

apparently Mase gave it the ok.. but they didnt ask me.. they must have gotten suckered into it because it was only $9..

big mistake.. its GARBAGE!

 

i've welded lots of ebay hks cast flanges and they are all crappy (as described in the review).

the cast ones that come with the bov from hks are fine to weld. i've also welded a couple billet ones (not sure where they came from) that were fine.

 

went ahead and ordered a billet one from moto/vibrant...

 

none of the hks flanges ive welded were worth a damn.

 

the vibrant ones are machined, only thing with them is they are a modular piece, i just throw out the screw on bottom fitting, and weld the flange on directly.

 

Same here, all the cast flanges are usually Chinese cast crap. I never had aluminum explode when trying to weld it before. I was trying to weld on a HKS cast flange which was welding like crap, I hit a spot and the flange blew out nice hot ***** of aluminum. Must have had a gas pocket or something in the casting. I turn them all down and sell them the Vibrant flange.

 

this **** exploded on me prolly 4 times... it was bad... so bad i took my 5lb mallet and smashed the pipe..
