Default wiring harness question

i have a wiring harness that came out of my 93 integra. it had a 97-98 b20 engine in it so im guessing the wiring harness is a OBD2A-OBD1 Conversion harness because it was hooked up to a PR4 ecu.

i was just wondering if wiring harness's mattered for weather they were for b/d serries motors because i have a mini me swap for my 97 shell that only needs a harness.

and also is it possible to wire this harness for v-tec if its not already wired?

Generally it doesn't matter what engine the harness was meant for, when it comes to D-series and B-series engines. It matters more of what parts you're using to be able to use the harness, as well as the car you're trying to put it in.

For a '92-'95 Civic, for an example, you can use the stock '92-'95 Civic harness, you could use an OBD1 Integra harness, or you could use an OBD2 Integra harness. If your '97 shell is a Civic, that's a different story all together. The '96-'00 Civics use a 1-piece harness, compared to the 2-piece harness of the '92-'95 Civics and OBD1 & OBD2 Integras. The '96-'00 Civic have the harness from the engine, and it goes straight to the ECU. The Integras and the '92-'95 Civic have the harness from the engine to the passenger side shock tower area, and then another harness that connects there and runs to the ECU. So you wouldn't be able to use an Integra or a '92-'95 Civic harness in the '97 Civic shell. Specifically, you'd need to use a '96-'98 Civic harness, because even the '99-'00 Civics are different from the '96-'98 Civics.

Yes on the VTEC wiring question. You can just run the 2 VTEC wires from the solenoid and pressure switch through a hole in the firewall, straight to the ECU pins, as well as connecting the ground for the pressure switch. If it's a '92-'95 Civic harness or an Integra harness, you could use the shock tower plugs, wire them to that plug from the sensors, and then from the other side of the plugs to the ECU; if you wanted a cleaner more OEM look.

i went to honda and asked for a 97 ex engine wiring harness and they gave me some lighting harness or somthing but the description said engine wiring harness. they said it was like special order too so i dont think i can return it.

im getting desperate becasue im short on money and i need to get this car running.

i have a 93 civic vx that i plan on taking the engine out of soon. would the wiring harness from that work in the 97 civic?

it has the v-tec E but im not sure if thats the right wiring for v-tec.
