Default V6 Headers. Who has them on there 98-02 accords or 3.0CL

Curious guys im looking at getting a 99 3.0CL and i would like some more power. I was looking at headers and there are tons of them on ebay.

I was looking at a set of OBX or megan.

How was the fit and what difference did you notice.

Thanks

DC sports
Comptech
Mungen

Plenty of choices but if you think you are goinh to notice them in day to day driving, good luck as power gain is pretty much from v-tec engagement on up (about 25hp added tp the peak.

problem with the original J30a1/2 has to do with small valves and using 3 state stage v-tec system with pretty much the middle section removed.

see the torque and how low it is untill engagement +500rpm? adding headers isn't going to help that......also explains the weak *** performance until you get to about 40+ when the car really starts to haul ***. 2003+ accords do not have this problem and neithe do the TL/CL incl type S motors even though they only use a 2 stage system like the J30a. They have much larger valves........ and unlike the j30a1/2 their first stage does not keep the second intake valve open just enough to prevent swirling. You get in a newer accord and punch it the power delivery is smooth and strong right off of idle

Yeah i noticed the newer accords had a bit better pull. This explains it well.

Im getting a 1999 3.0CL for a good deal and would not mind some extra power. I was looking at doing a Intake maybe a TB and port the top part of the intake manifold out set of megan headers and 2.5" mid pipe and maybe some quiet muffler.

If you go with a set of cheaper Chinese headers be prepared to port match them to the head. Most come with simple round holes in the flanges that are smaller than the exhaust ports. You might also have to lengthen an Accord header to mate up to the 3.0 exhaust. I had to add 2" to mine....

AH ok thats not a problem. I just wanted to make sure that they would bolt on the motor fine. Porting and lengthing the down pipe is not a problem.

What brands did you guys use?
