Car came With Tune...Need Help
I bought a civic with a b16 a2 swap with turbo installed. The guy i bought it from had it tuned after the turbo was put in but doesnt know what it was tuned with. I believe the car is running a little rich and what to retune to fix it. I am new to hondas so i am not familar with ecu's and tunes. I have access to the computer but was wondering if i just took it to a tuner if he could just retune the car w/o a problem even without me knowing what it is already running?
Also, could you please estimate the cost of a tune for me please....

If you take it to a tuner he'll likely retune it with whatever he uses. Just take it to a tuner you know is good.
He can also read it in to see if it was tuned with the same software he uses.

if ur tuner is good and know what hes doing, he wont even look into your previous tune. he will start from scratch. i know i would never use someone else's tune. i opened up a few customer tunes from reputable shops just to see what was done. i was shocked to see what was actually in these maps. just by looking at the fuel and ignition curves i was amazed at how bad the tune was
I connect and download the cal., first thing I notice is 02 Feedback is turned 'ON' so I look at the AFR target map - the ENTIRE MAP was 14.7, corner to corner, top to bottom. Mind you, this was a stock naturally aspirated engine, now with 9 psi.
Now I know the engine would be in pieces if it was actually 14.7 at 9 psi, so I started clicking around in the cal.
Their tuning strategy was: always have the ECU target Stoich. and everywhere they wanted it richer, they'd throw more duty cycle at it than the 02 feedback could compensate for. So in boost, the fuel map ramped up to like 140+% duty.
I've learned people will just repeat whatever has worked for them in the past. Right, wrong, or indifferent.
