i was doing some research on some decent gear setups for my transmission and i came across a setup that sounded interesting: 1st-b16, 2nd-b16, 3rd-gsr, 4th-gsr, 5th-ls. has any one ever had this type of setup before? how did it handle, and were the wear outs faster than normal? any other type of suggestion? i want good off the line launches, good mid range and good top end as well, this will be going on a turbo car. would this setup be appropriate for a turbo car?? reason why i ask is because a guy has a box FULL of gsr and b16( i think) transmission parts and i thought why not? i already have my trans apart.
Traction problems with the B16 2nd, crappy RPM drop into 3rd. Look at the MFactory PRO Synchro gear set. Long 1st, GSR 2nd, slightly longer B16 3rd, shorter B16 4th.

well like i said earlier i got a box FULL of random *** gsr and b16 gears. so i guess ill just do that. so would you recommend the ls for the 1st since its longer? and ls as well for 5th? there was alot of 4.40 gears in there as well as a welded diff, and a few other diffs as well. where can i find a print out of all the gear ratios/tooth counts to identify which gears i just bought??
LS 1st = GSR/B!6/ITR 1st.
If there is more than one of each ratio I wouldn't use them. Each gear is a matched set (gear SET). You'll have problems if you mix up gears that aren't original to each other.

i still need a print out of the tooth count for a b16 and gsr

It's not the tooth count, even if identical, you should never mix n match different 'used' gears.
All gears come in pairs from new, and when "broken-in", they mesh together specifically. If you use another gear (even though identical ratio), it won't mesh the same and this 'may' cause issues.
Although it is ironic that I say this seeing as we offer a countershaft 1st gear, we do intend for the customer to use a brand new mainshaft with it, although most probably don't! lol
