Big brake question
Whats up HT...
Im doing the diy big brake upgrade on my 91 crx si. I have a few questions for all of you. So far i have da knuckles and 94 legend calipars. I know i need the t23 brackets but what do they come off of? I also need rotors and i k now i can use prelude rotors redrilled to 4x100 but was wondering if there are any aftermarket ones that are already 4x100 and drilled/slotted. Im using a da booster and mc and am redoing my hardlines and getting stainless braded ones for the soft lines. Also using a 40/40 prop valve. One last question is there a rear brake upgrade thats easy for the crx as i already have discs. Oh and 1 more what are some good pads for my setup?
Thanks in advance

I am assuming you are looking or have looked at this thread:

I found that Ceramic pads are the best just because they handle the heat better. It also boils down to preference in the way they feel at the brake pad. Also found that the Ceramic pad seem to last longer (depending on your driving style - stop&go traffic).
In some cases less noise as created by the dust from metallic linings. I would suggest trying one set at your next replacement and make note of what it is then try a entirely different set the next go around. Try Ceramic first if you don't already have them.

Sorry to keep bugging u guys but i realy need to get my anwsers done asap. One last question though, does anyone have a list of all the an fittings needed to replace all of my brake fittings with an ones or a link to a diy brake line replacement thread.
Thanks again

wow you have your stuff all mixed up....
As long as your crx is not HF, use the stock crx si knuckles.
Sell the DA knuckles since it does mess up the geometry of the EF. (unless you want to pay extra money to get everything corrected, toe, camber, ect)
Read these thread.... a TON of info about itr, legend, accor v6,nsx calipers
I basically did all the reasearch for you man.

if your stil not clear after reading those threads, don't attempt it yourself. JK
99.99999% sure you'll be perfectly fine with 10.4" rotors and ITR calipers.
let me ask you this... do you want:
a) 10.4" rotors with ITR calipers
or
b) 11.1" rotors with ITR calipers
which one... is it going to be.

I want to do 11.1" rotors and read that you need 90-91 ex knuckles or da knucles. I read this thread https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/da-knuckles-vs-si-knuckles-ex-knuckles-big-brakes-2140287/ so i know that da knucles can be used. I am going to shave all my hardlines and use stainless softlines. Can i mount 11.1 in rotors on my si knuckles if so what bracket do i need. If i use da knuckles what bracket do i use. I want to use legend 2 pot calipars as i already have them. Also where can i get the aforementioned brackets. I found the 11.1" drilled/sloted roters on fastbrakes.com what eles will i need to do this brake swap.
Sorry for all the questions

Eddie the 90-93 integra front spindles COMPLETE from the junkie will run you about $150. Swap these into your CRX and you'll be fine. After that get an alignment cause as Charlie mentioned, you'll need to reset camber, toe. DO NOT REMOVE THE REAR DICS ON YOUR SI. Bigger rear brakes will tend to lock up early and the fronts do most of the stopping anyway. If you still need more stopping power from the rears, try a more agressive pad.
okay since your being greedy and going overkill with 11.1 prelude rotors, this is what you'll need to do.
I'd drop the idea of DA knuckles. Never liked the thought of them on ef.
I have a EF hb si
I drag race and autocross. The problem is that if I upgrade to itr calipers it will not clear my 13" slicks. So for that reason I have 2 sets of knuckles always hanging in the garage wall. I take about 45mins to install the Knuckles (with premounted rotors/calipers/brackets/pads) based on what i'm doing that day.
drag setup:
si/dx knuckles... stock 9.4" rotors and calipers
Road Racing Curcit:
ef ex sedan knuckles (same as your gsr knuckles)
11.1" prelude rotors
NSX - Legend GS dual piston caliper with 25T bracket
Daily Street : (what is currently on the car right now)
si/dx knuckels
10.4" gsr rotors
ITR caiper & 23T brackets.
If you don't want to get EF EX knuckles..... you'll have to spend $160 on adapter bracket at fastbrakes.com. These brackets will mount to your STOCK SI knuckle and extend out the right amount of distance for you to install 11.1" rotors and ITR calipers.

and by the way.... i can't tell the difference between my 10.4" ITR caliper setup vs my 11.1" NSX caliper setup unless I'm doing a full on brake and have on R rated tires.
So that's why 11.1" is overkill.
But they add bling points, and can take the heat of road racing slightly more than the 10.4' rotors.
.... BTW don't get the cross drilled or dimpled rotors.... blanks will own them.
I just found some s2000 calipers and they are much lighter, compact than ITR calipers but also have the same size brake pad.....
I'll report back and let you know how they feel. If it works out well then I'll sell all my ITR brakes/nsx brakes and just keep the S2000 calipers since they fit under 13" slicks.

Ok so i need the t25 bracket. My next qurstion is what does it come off of (the bracket) i already have the 2 piston legend calipars sitting in my closet.

you can use 25T, 23T, or 28T brackets.....(see pictures of all of them in the links above)
23T = ITR, some 90-93 legends came with 23T or 25T
25T= accord v6, accord wagons, 97-2001 crv, 95-98 odyssey, 96 prelude vtec, vigor
28T = nsx, 94-95 legend gs

28T = nsx, 94-95 legend gs
Ok so i went back to pick-n-pull again today and got the 25t brackets off a legend(had the brackets of a 93 accord wagon but they werent stamped 25t). As of now this is what i have.
94 legend gs calipars-$45 rebuilt from a buddy
2X t25 brackets off a legend-$6 from pnp
2X da knuckles-$32 at pnp
90 teg booster and master cylinder-$34 at pnp
hopefully i got all the hardware i need
I still need rotors from fastbrakes. What do you all think about me getting new wheel bearings for the knuckles? Also does anyone have a parts list to convert all my stuff to an fittings? Also will crx braided stainless lines work with the legend calipars?
Last question i hope
Do i need to mill 2.5-3mm off the bracket to make this work or do i need to use a spacer with the bracket(i think i read that with the 25t bracket u need spacers instead of milling could be wrong though as im asking alot of questions and think im confusing myself)
Thanks again guys

yeah with cars at junk yards sometimes you might find mis match parts.
For sure accord wagons are NOT suppose to use 23T brackets because they have 25mm thick rotors (hense the 25 in front of the "T")
if you have extra money get a new wheel bearing. I would not mess with it unless it was bad (making noise). Wheel bearings are not cheap at all & they have to be pressed in.
for ss lines... not sure
I'm assuming it will work just the same since you can use your stock ef brake lines on the legend caliper.
to get the bracket to work you have 2 choice: ( you pick)
1) go to parts store and get 16 washers. Make sure they are at least grade7 steel washers and not crush washers. They need to have an center opening large enough to slide through your wheel studs. You'll stack 2 of them on each stud, then place the prelude rotor THROUGH the studs OVER the washers.
.... many people do this, even track guys, it's proven not to fail so I don't want to hear about it... (lol)
2) take the brackets to machine shop & have them milled 2.7mm off the backside of the bracket. Will cost you $50-85 depending on each shop.
I'd go with the washer mode....I'd rather spend money on pads.

Alright so im almost done assembling everything, but i need help with a choice of pads. If anyone has a link for some great pads its greatly appreciated.
