Default throwout bearing help

ok so, the throwout in my ef is going out. i have an obd1 jdm d15b vtec in it, and im using an 88 crx si tranny. i swapped the motor in last year, and i got a clutch kit for an 88 crx si. turned out i couldnt get the pressure plate to fit, so i used the previous one, and for some reason, i cant remember, we didnt use the throwout either. im not sure if it didnt fit or what. but i was wondering, when buying a throwout to fix my current problem, would i get one for an 88 crx si? not for a z6, which is essentially the same motor im running. i wanted to figure it out before i drop the money on it. any help is appreciated. thanks in advance.

I believe you'll have to match the bearing to the tranny you have, so get it for the 88 crx si. But while you're at it and have the tranny off ,you should probably replace the clutch with the one meant for the engine you swapped (d15b) so it matches the flywheel. The bearings might be the same for both trannys but I'm not sure, don't quote me on that. I hope I'm understanding your question right, I'm a little confused on what bearing you ended up using the si or d15b one?

well before i swapped the d15b in, i was using a sohc zc. with that motor i was using the same tranny, the 88 crx si. the zc spun a bearing, so i swapped in the d15b. i ended up using the same pressure plate and throwout bearing that i was using previously with the zc and using the new clutch disk

yeah, but the only reason was because i couldnt get the pressure plate to line up correctly. i cant remember why i didnt use the throwout, but thats what i was thinking. i figured itd be for the tranny

You need to use everything for the transmission you are using. It helps if you keep everything consistant anyways: Throw-out Bearing, Pressure Plate, Clutch Plate, Pilot Bearing, and Flywheel.
