umm actually i would much rather have the b18 with the b16 trans since mostly you will be paying for the transmission since an ls is cheaper...then i would get a b16 head and do an Ls-VTEC conversion and have a much more fun car than just a b16a2 since they make about 135whp and about 100 ft/lbs. of tq.

ls has more potential. and more torque will be fun with the short geared tranny.

You have a barr'd H22?
Now imagine you only had 110ish lbs of torque? Im surprised someone with such an abundance of torque would vote b16.

Anyways. The b16 is barely going to move around stop n go traffic.
Get the LS; with its low end power and short gears it will haul you through the city way smoother.
Even in a drag race it's a close call it comes down to the driver. And for one grand less. Theres your answer

Plus more potential. i.e. Lsv, lst, lsv-t or all motor

LS ftw! swaping a b16 into an ek is a waste of time!

ya the ls looks like a good motor with the b16 tranny...but performance shop near me is sellin a b16a2 full swap with chipped ecu and built head for 2gs installed.. really tempting. seems like a good deal. but my friends ls w/ b16 tranny has beat gsr..so confused :/

well if the b16a2 is chipped with a built head its alot tougher of a call the b16a2 is goin to rape the b18 in top end but the b18 will still take it off the line with the b16 tranny but im pretty sure the b16 would take the b18 on the free way...... but all together the b18 has alot more options down the road ie: ls vtec or turbo b18 both very fast..... its up to you though

b16s are cool but they are torque less, i would much rahter have a ls, then do a ls/vtec

I've had both and enjoyed the B16A2 more. The LS is nice, but the head just doesn't flow.

What do you want from the engine? Top end, bottom end, just cheap, better built?
