Default Decent starter bike?

I have been reading and what not but, I just don't want to start with a new bike.

"there are only two types of bike riders in this world, those who have been in a wreck and those who are going to be"

With that said, what is a decent model that doesn't look too.....um......lame?

Considering CBR 600F3.

EDIT: Note: Learning on a 2001 R6.

F3's are good...lots of used examples, though they are often pretty well thrashed by their owners. Shouldn't be too hard to find a good one...there are lots out there. Makes an excellent track-bike too, if you outgrow it and move on to a different streetbike

you know that there are some crazy turbo busas that can outrun crazy supras, right?

bikes have the advantage of superior power to weight ratio. there will always be some yahoo with more money than sense who will capitalize on that.

ahh... touche are there really turbo setups on the street for busas? The ones I've come across are strictly drag.

Bikes own, its as simple as that, and as for a decent starter bike, I think and F3 is cool.

I'm considering getting a bike sometime in the future too. I have no experience whatsoever riding a bike. My friend that has a gixxer 750 said that beginners fall at least 2-3 times. Is this true?

stereotypically speaking, younger riders do. Also generally speaking better riders fall in the beginning as well. Most riders that don't fall aren't pushing the envelope and aren't confident in their riding and thus not progressing as fast. I'm proud to say I've gotten one highside out of my way and one rather embarassing parking lot tip over

Again, "There are only two types of bike riders in this world. Those who have been in a wreck, and those who are going to be."

I have already had a stupid incedent.

First time on anything that had more than one gear.....some ugly *** scooter.
My friend, didn't bother to teach me everything about it.....Example, the back brake is a foot pedal, not the hand brake!! LOL. Wet road drifting onto gravel to come to a stop....front tire on gravel, back on wet road. Slowly apply HAND BRAKE, front locks instantly and I fly........Needless to say.....I vowed to learn what every little button and lever does on those things before I get on them again.

I started out on a 1300 cc BUSA. All my friends was like you shouldnt get it, its too fast, you will die, and I was all like funk that because Im going to get it! If you dont rev it past 8000 RPM's its not any different then riding a really heavy 600 cc bike.
you must be joking. if not  to you for not killing yourself. yet.

IMHO, I think its about what kind of experiance you have and your comfort on a bike. I have all types of experiance with off-road vehicles and motorcycles.
But to me, you should have an Ideal of what your getting into before you go ballz out. Some bikes have different throttle responses and power bands. Alot of people think because they can rip on a 600cc bike, that there ready to upgrade to 900-1100cc bike. But then once they get on the bigger bike its a whole different story.

You control the throttle and what you do on the bike, so 9 out of 10 times a mistake is going to be your own fault. Besides the ******** that like to pull out in front of you.

I'm considering a F4i or R6. The R6 feels more comfortable but also more expensive.
