Extra LED's to alarm system... will it fry the board?

I wanted to hook up two extra led's to my alarm system, called tech support and they said it might fry the LED portion of the board. I asked if I hooked up a relay (last resort or don't do it at all type deal) and they didn't know. Since these LED's don't use a lot of current and are really low powered, I don't think it would fry anything. But you guys know more than me in audio/security and 12v so any help would be appreciated.
it should be alright as long as you don't use A LOT or ones that are really high energy consumption.. I have small recessed ones on my doors and the one that came w/ the alarm on the center console and my alarm has been fine for the 3+ years I've had it...

Thanks guys, but another problem... whenever I wire an extra led to the one I have, it doesn't work. Tried 3 different types at radioshack and none works, but they work hooked up to straight 12v, but when I hook them up to the alarms LED wires, it doesn't work at all, just the origanal one works.
I'm thinking, there is only enough juice for the one to work and not the other one or maybe I'm getting wrong LED's. I'm getting the ones rated at 2.6mA and around those spex. Will a relay have enough power to switch on hooked up to the LED wires? I would try a relay next, but I am getting tired of trying to hook up extra LED's just to have 2 more LEDs on the doors!

most leds are rated for 3-4 volts only.
you will need an appropiate resistor.
given the right mix using OHMS law (V=IR)
LED will outlast your car.

Soup **** is right or what you could do is wire the leds in series ( pos to neg to pos, etc) the will work but the flash wont be as bright.....most companies ( alpine, etc) are going to a HYPER type led ( brighter) and the brains cant handle more than one wired parallel.
