I broke the selector mechanism piece in my itr gearbox and replaced it with another one. it didnt work..i put it in the car and couldnt selct gears so i took it out and carried it to a garage for them to look at it. Apparently the piece i out in was from a gsr b18 or such idk but it wouldnt work.they replcaed it with another one i had and now it works..

problem is..it pops out of 5th gear anytime i let off the gas unless i force the shifter to stay there..it didnt do this before....

what could it be?

 

your motor is rocking back and forth too much. movement..taking it out of gear. notice the car vibrates and is more stiff if you hold it in 5th and punch it and let off punch it and let off........i had this problem. torques mounts are poop

 

i have in solid innovative mounts.. could that still be the problem?? i just dont understand that it didnt do this before..

 

I wouldnt think its the TQ mounts, if your meaning the 2 brackets up front, some people don't even run with those...

Could be a bad synchro, could be the shop flubbed something up a bit

Its the 5th gear syncro.
They do double duty. One side helps with the changing of the gear, syncronizing the speed of the engine and transmission + the other side holds the trans in the selected gear. Take it back to the shop and get them to fix it.

 

ok that makes sense... they told me take out the 2 12mm bolts with the springs and ***** and stretch the springs and then replace them ..didnt work

 

When I built my DA I thought the tranny I bought was shot, after about 30 sec of being in 5th gear if i let off the gas it would just pop out of fifth gear.... did a little searching found out that if the trans fluid was low this would happen.
toped it off never happened again... check it out, try it maybe it will be just that simple

 

i have the same problem with my Da9 but i was using a hydo conversion kit for a hydrolic gsr tranny. But when my tranny fluid was low; 5th gear would pop out. Check it out. might just be the problem.

 

i know this is your first post but....i think he fixed it...check the dates...

 

damnit OP! Post your results! I hate it when people resolve problems and never give updates! Usually I don't give updates to threads when I don't solve the issue but always give updates when I do!
