Default Brake noise

I just started to noticed a noise while braking. I can only hear in between 10-0mph. So when i am coming to a stop at a light. Its a thumping sound like thump....thump...thump... If i let go of the brake pedal it stops? I am going to look at my brakes tonight. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for what to look for.

Thanks,
Zach

I had the same issue on a brand new corolla that my wife owned. Had to replace the calipers. Noise went away! Always happened when breaking from 15mph down

Yes this is my hatch. I have not replaced the calipers or rotors since i bought the car over a year ago. I have put pads on the car once. There is not really any vibration, maybe a little.

I highly doubt it is the brake caliper, since if that was the culprit your car would be pulling to one side when breaking (stuck caliper). According to your description of the issue, I say it could be the brake hardware clips. I had the same issue, and a friend helped me troubleshoot it and we found that I was somehow missing one of the clips therefore making that annoying sound.

It just started a few days ago out of of the blue.

So should I check the hardware the holds the pads in place?

I was also thinking one of the bolts that holds the calipers came loose or possibly fell out.

Make sure all the bolts are in place, sometimes the caliper bracket can come loose and cause this thump or other parts.

I replaced the rotors and pads. It solved the problem.

Wow, I wonder why it thumped though.
