Default F23 Exhaust Port

Does anyone know the measurements of the exhaust ports on a F23? I've been searching for the last couple hours and can't find any info. Picking up SS pipe to weld a log mani tomorrow and need the specs. I guess I can swing by a parts store and measure a gasket, but being a noob (to this site), I thought I'd start off by asking a question I can answer myself

It never hurts to ask (unless someone flame's you), and who knows; there might actually be a fabricator in here that knows.

Inform me on what a ss pipe is. Is this a header?

SS pipe = Stainless Steel pipe. I am guessing that he is going to fabricate his own turbo/log manifold out of it.

I was, but then I saw a design for a P-trap, and decided to use my stock mani with a 180* to do a top mount. It eliminates some of the potential issues I was looking at, as well as flowing better than a log at high RPM's.Here's a pic...

Except mine will be a single pipe from mani to turbo. God, I love this website!!!

Wow. That is some ghetto fab right there. Looks like they used natural gas piping (at least, that's one use for it) and elbows...haha.

I imagine it would definitely look and flow better with one large, single pipe like you are planning. The stainless will look much nicer as well.

lol yeah that looks like sched 40 mild steel pipe & fittings. Same stuff used for sprinkler systems. Nice hole in the side of the block as well.

x2 on the single SS pipe. You might want to rethink the 180° bend at the bottom. Or at least do the calculations to use a large enough diameter & proper radius in the bend to support adequate flow.

Yeah, I'm thinking 3 or 4" radius (mandrel, of course), but going past 180* to bring back toward the mani some. That way, I'd have plenty of room for the turbo. Gotta keep it low enough for hood clearance. Not sure if I'm still gonna use SS since I'm probably gonna wrap it so I don't have radiant heat issues with the radiator/condenser. I live in Houston and tend to spend 10+ hours a week sitting in traffic. I'm also thinking about making a heat shield to protect the compressor side from radiant too. We'll see. Trying to keep the entire build under $500.00.

running those two small outlets into a single large pipe then turning it 180 degrees sounds like trouble for flow. you are going to lose a lot of exhaust velocity. you want to do your best to keep the intersections smooth and the pipes decently small. as funny as it looks, i think this guy actually has it pretty close, all flows combining at the small angles.

(rehosted the pic)

you could also look into a 2 piece 4-2-1 aftermarket header to get further improved flow characteristics from the upper portion. you will probably need to brace it though and i'm not sure if it will be able to stand up to the extra heat.

f23 mani goes to a single runner before the flange. This guy has 1-2" radius bends for his 180* bend, I'm gonna use a 3-4" radius bend. Flow isn't too much of issue pre-turbo. See log mani designs-small radius bends and runners merge right before a non-directed 90* turn. Gonna use some kind of bracket to prevent work hardening from vibration.

ah didn't realize the f23 upper manifold was 4 into 1 up there. in that case you should be in decent shape.
