gas light never comes on???
ok i got b16a3 swap in a 1993 civic hatchback cx and my gas light never comes on. even when the needle is a lil pass the lowest mark it still dont come on. on all my other cars i have in the past (2003 civic si, 2002 civic si, 1996 civic hatchback cx, 1991 civic hatchback si, 1990 crx si) it would come on right when it almost hits the bottom mark (line). most i ever took my car was about 340 miles on my tank and when i filled it, it took about 11.1 gallons before it clicked on me.
will yesterday night my car died cuz it ran out of gas cuz i tried to see how low it will go before the gas light will come one. damn had to run to the gas station to get a gallon of gas. (how sad)
JDM cars had the low fuel warning lights, but USDM cars didn't. If you have a swapped JDM cluster with the light, you it's probably not wired to the fuel sender. I've heard it's possible to wire it up using the sender from another car (Integra or a later model Civic that had an 11.6 gal. tank and a low fuel light), but I've never seen it done.

My 2000 dx doesnt light up either.
I had a 97 hx that i thought it had a 5 gallon tank for the whole time i owned it cuz the needle would bottom out and would only take 5 gal to fill up. But the light never came on. I guess its cuz it had an 11 gal tank the whole time and i didnt even know it

i see. damn. i guess i will fill up from now on when it's almost going to hit the bottom mark. sometimes when my gas is low its harder for the car to start up.
to answer the del sol q, i have a 1995 and i believe i have seen a fuel light when starting the car.
however, my needle sits at empty for 60 miles without the light turning on. when i went to fill up, only 9 gallons went in. i think the del sol is 10gallons. i couldn't wait any longer though as i had already driven 60 miles on "empty." also got 320 miles that tank. thats right, 35.5 mpg without trying for mileage

hmmm i pump my car whenever it hit past 3/4 of the tank...never have tp worry about it. making it a habit so i dont get stuck out of no where and walk a mile to get gas lol

no one should ever leave the gas go so low... this will make your gas pump pick up impurities from the gas tank and even might plug your fuel filter... this is a extreme case but sucks when it happens... just put gas and ou will never run in trouble
I was curious about this topic...
I have a JDM D15B and the matching cluster (no MPH). While installing it, I noticed that it had the low fuel indicator light... which of course has never lit up. I assumed that my car (93 EJ2) was missing a required in-tank sensor or something like that. I would like to get it working if possible. Could someone here list all the parts involved and how the process works?
Thanks

I always try to run my tanks low before filling them; it makes the sending unit work throughuot it's entire range and prevents a build-up of trash/water/etc. in the tank. The fuel filter's there to catch the stuff before it gets to the injectors and it is supposed to be changed regularly to eliminate the mess from the system instead of letting it build up.
I guess it's a throwback to my motorcycle background- the reserve position on the petcock held back a certain portion of the tank. In other words, if you never used the reserve, anything below that level got stale and/or collected trash & moisture. That's a bad thing, because if you ever needed the reserve fuel, there was a good chance that you'd end up with the bike dead from the junk that was there. It also allowed the moisture (collecting in the lower portion of the tank) to cause rust to start eating away at the metal. After having problems with this, I started always running the bike well into the reserve and keeping it there for at least 50 miles after putting in fresh fuel in; it keeps the crud flushed and I always have reliable fuel when I'm likely to need it most.

I'm past empty right now, been waiting for that light to come on before filling up
