Default Coil problem

I have a accel coil on my 90 si zc hatch and it went out i was wondering should i just go with the stock zc coil or try another msd or accel coil. The guy i bought it from said it burns coils so i know it has to be wired in wrong. It is wired in by the two wire from the distributor...which seems like it should be right but it shouldnt be burning coils like that. Anyone have any advice?

Yeah there is no reason why you need anything other than all stock stuff. Are you pushing over 500whp? Didn't think so... OEM will more than suffice for you.

If you choose to use the external coil, the factory coil needs to be removed and the wires that go to the factory coil should be extended and run to the external coil. It is important that you get the polarity correct.

In this pic the wires are Black/Yellow (+) and Yellow/Green (-)

the dizzy i have in there right now already has the internal coil removed. It has a msd cap and a accel coil.

The msd cap is for the msd 6al and the blaster which is the external coil. The accel is internal so if you already have the accel just put a stock cap on there.

Since you already have an external coil setup, you can replace the accel external coil with one from msd or even another accel coil. The msd cap is designed to be used with most external coils.
