Icon2 f22a tranny to f23a1 block?

for the past couple of days i have been doing research and trying to get the right info and if i have to keep track of the answers im hearing a equal amout of yes and no so im trying to take the best advice i can get.. ok here is the issue..

i bought a car that has a F23A1 Automatic Vtec engine in it and the transmission is no longer engaging in the car. i have called junk jards and various jdm part suppliers and what i am hearing is that i can get the f22a vtec tranny and use it with my f23a1 motor i wanna know if that is possible the other thing that ive heard is that i can use an h22a tranny and that too will work with my vtec accord. so i called around trying to find out more and one guy says yes and another at a different company says no i know that there are people here who are very car oriented please help me get to the bottom of this because i dont wanna buy the wrong transmission for my car

i know the best thing i can probably do is buy the f23a1 tranny and not have to worry about problems arising but if i can get a saying as to which one will work i will gladly appreciate the help as the f23 tranny are very scarce in florida and also expensive.

without comparing two side by side i couldn't say for sure that anything but the F23 trans will work with the F23.

i feel strongly that any F-series transmission should bolt up to the motor... but mounts, axles and wiring/ECU may or may not be compatable.

one thing that should narrow it down, you'll need to use an OBD-II compatable transmission. 96 or later.

once you find what is and isn't compatable, post it up. i'm sure you're aware of the lack of available knowledge on this subject.
