Good deal on Skunk2 Stage 1 tuner cams, but has a little scoring. Is it still good?
Like the title says, i found a good deal on some used SK2 Stage 1 tuner cams, but it has some scoring them, is it worth it to buy? will it affect the performance of the Cams? Let me know wassup HT, i am looking to buy ASAP.
THANKS!
THANKS!
buy them, they are worth it. i hav them in my b18c type r jdm, and they rock! 1st and
2nd gear rocks! 3rd gear is bad *** too. after putting these cams in i dont know if i want to go with stage 2 or 3. i might loose the advanges in 1st, 2nd, 3rd from the skunk2stg 1. i hear if you want more highend go with the stg 3 but remember you have to lose and take. for drag racing your launch, 0-60 means alot so i would say stick with the stg 1. im not a giuness.. i jus hav the cams in my ride and giving an input.

post pics! of the scoring you speak of.
i also know a fella that did 12.3 all motor in a mild build b18c5 using the skunk2 stg 1 back in 2006.

If scoring and pitting are evident, discard part.
Thats what autoshop always taught me, scoring is caused by particles greater than .0004 inches in diameter which work their way into the oil of the engine. These particles are most likely burs from misuse of the engine because any normal oil particle from for instance, an old filter, will disintegrate because of the high heat from the engine. Burs in a modern honda engine are not extremely common so this is more than likely due to engine mis-use, or simply not changing the oil for an extended period of time and running the **** out of the thing.
