just bought a dc2 for a dd but it smells??????
like da title says i just picked up a dc2 for a dd (daily driver). but everytime i turn on the a/c or heater, all i smell is this FUNK!!!!! wondering if anyone esle had this problem??? and as fixed it. so lemme know what i can do and i appreciate the help!
what kind of funk? Like a gassy exhaust smell? Make sure it's set to circulate and leave it on for a bit with your windows open, maybe it just needs to air out.
yea i looked it up and suppositly it doesn't have a cabin filter but i will check dat. not to sure what a cowl is???? but it has no air box came with a aem short ram.
cow is the plastic piece that runs along the windshiled that covers the wiper motor assembly, there is an inlet for the heater/a/c air on the passenger side for that, the blow motor area is where the box is for air flow which then runs into vent controls in the center.

awesome way to do this is roll up all your windows etc. and take two apples cut them in half and leave them in there for a few hours do this once or twice a guarenteed smell is gone forever....sounds wierd but has worked everytime I have bought a used car.
no you take out the apples after they brown. The apples absorb the immpurities in the air and make the smell neutral.....sounds stupid but dont knock it till you try it. and for about $2.00 worth the trip to the store
funny to say but my dc has a "smell" to it too,, its like rotten flowers or something, not really sure what it is , but like you said if the heater or Ac is turned on you smell it, something i gotta fix before the winter when ill be using the car as dd.
Did you check to see if someone shyt under the cowl... it could happen
Could be a dead mouse in the blower motor. Pretty common. Just drop the blower and look. While you are in there you can spray some deoderizer inside the box. Make sure you get the evaporator core since it could also have mold growing in there causing the smell. You should be able to go to a commercial cleaning store and pick up some industrial deoderizer.
x2 check for a dead mouse or any other wet/rotten smelly nonsense. check in blower motor and check in evap tray. 20 bucks says your smell is comming from either of those 2
one more thought: has it been raining recently? check your passenger side floor. if it's wet, the smell is probably coming from there. in the rain my DA would get soaked there and it stunk like old milk. supposedly it comes from the air inlet where those pictures above are showing
^^^Is the HVAC on fresh or recirc? Could be the charcoal canister is gone or you may have a fuel leak. Unless it is the other kinda gas, then I would suggest Beano.
