Default JDM engine

Google searched around for a good place to buy an engine, but has anyone had any experience with buying from a site that they would recommend? My 95' h23 has 240k miles on it, numerous small problems and I figured this would be a good time to swap out for h22. Just trying to find a good price with an engine with low miles. I'll try trollin around the WTS forums next. But yeah, any help would be appreciated, thanks guys

One thing i just saw was an h23 vtec, which looks like the ****. But i saw they only come with auto trans. Talked to a guy on the phone about it though and he was saying that they work with an H22 tranny. Most stuff I've heard about h23 with h22 trannys was bad, any insight to this? (h23vtec with h22 tranny) thanks again

Its fine.
Buy the H23-V.....love it!
Whats up with your H23 tranny? Any H series trans will work just fine.

Well, i just figured prob wouldnt be bad idea to replace the tranny along with the engine. My h23 tranny is in decent shape though. But at the same time, for the little bit of extra cash, an LSD h22 tranny would rock. I'm just worried about the gear ratio difference between the two. The h23vtec still revs out the same as a regular h23 does it now? (talking about the JDM h23vtec that comes in the accord SIr in japan btw, not a hybrid)

what a bad page.........j/k Great job!
I am still habing thoughts of using the H23V in my Teg. I would love the drop in TQ it provides. i/h/e/cams tune /done Fun and Relaible!
Same dyno, similar mods.....was making ~15-20tq more than an H22 with a little more HP.

An engine out of an automatic station wagon. Seems like a good idea to me.

That wasn't sarcasm. I'd feel a better about an engine that came out of the familymobile than the boy racer car.

That's why I swapped in an Accord engine!

(ok, that was sarcastic )

I guess I always just assumed with an engine that came from an auto, the trans would take most of the beating.

No F22 for you?

It really is an Accord engine! Manual trans included as well - I did it for the gearing, I guess. I can't say I swapped it because it came out of a familymobile though like the H23.

But yeah, I'd think the engine out of an automatic would probably be less worked over than a manual. Heck, even if they drive the wheels off it you still don't get the same sort of RPMs under throttle lift. If nothing else.

Just make sure to swap the throttle body, lol.

EuroR right?

x2 on the throttle body!
Did it for both of my H22s, used a B16 TB for my D15b-auto

You'd only want to buy from them if you were local to them.

Btw that wiki page was very well done. I thought the h23vtec made 210hp though? And also, I guess my main question was in regaurds to final drive ratios (i think?) Ex. If you have an h22 with an h23 tranny shifting from peak revs in first gear lets say would bring you down to around 4.5k'ish? in second gear. if that makes any sense

Ignore gearing differences between H22 and H23 trans......they are minimal.
