Icon2 Boosted B16 GSR good buy?

Against all my instincts I am actually considering buying a boosted car, I normally wouldn't think of it but I found a 94 white GSR, body badly painted with some nice rota wheels mint GS-R interior and an authentic Mugen Valve cover. Dash shows over 200k but it's from an automatic teg (has the P,R,D signs on it etc). The guy claims the motor has 80k on it a B16 with a Greddy Turbo and P28 tune. Car kept shutting off at stop signs when test driven but I think it's just the alternator/battery cause car wont without a jump either. He wants 2000-2500 and it doesn't seem that bad of a rip off considering the crap I've seen for that price range, but I still think it's a mistake buying it, what do you guys think?

I would be very skeptical buying a boosted car (again) because those boosted cars will yield higher maintenance work which means expect to spend a lot of money to get it running the way you want it to. Earlier this year I bought a 94 LS turbo for 4k. I already knew it needed some work but I found more things that needed service/replacement as days went by (IE: spark plugs, clutch + flywheel, abs lines, re-tuning, timing belt, alt/water pump, rotor cap, oil + filter change, MTF change, coolant flush, and few other small things). Pretty much ended up investing $1200 on maintenance work alone.

Yeah that's why I was skeptical too, funny thing is I set out to find a daily driver so I don't know how I came to even consider this as an option, but I'll see what happens, got some thinking to do.

Turbo or no, I wouldn't even consider getting a car that wasn't starting reliably and that would shut off at lights. Everything about this car is saying that it was not taken care of properly. A car like that is going to be nothing but trouble even if it's bone stock.

^that, you really shouldnt buy a car that you have to do work to as soon as you buy it. Especially a car that your looking to be your dd and reliable.
