type r piston are high compression. you gonna need to change the piston out to lower compression. if your goal is for some high crazy HP then invest into some good aftermarket pistons and rod. re-sleeve and bored out. if not then just sell your type r piston and buy some LS piston and just press them on the type r rod and you should be good for 9-10lb of boost for a few week til it blow. other then that. ^ LMFAO... I luv that last part, lol. If u just want medium HP (like 250 maybe 300) then just boost it to 6-8psi. If u want more than that ur gonna need lower CR forged rods and pistons and that may get u to 450 HP. No such thing as Type R rods either, just so u know.

Actually there is! The B18C5 uses a stronger chrome alloy, and they are slightly lighter than others found in say a regular B18C1 gsr engine

Really?? Because they have the exact same part # at acura and have P72 cast on both the GSR and Type R rods.

I work for Acura in Canada, they are different part numbers in the parts catalogue.

can you change the pistons with the old gzr rods, or do you have to change those as well?

GSR and ITR rods are the same length, and the pistons are interchangeable. The wrist pins are the same diameter.
