Intake Manifold and Throttle Body Q's
I have an AEBS intake manifold (http://www.aebsracing.com/products.pl?product=intake).. Now, do I have to match that inlet size with the throttle body? Any help would be nice, I'm just trying to learn as I go here.. Thanks.
To use the full potential of the manifold its best to run a portmatched throtle body or the same size bore t.b. there will be no dips in the air flow once its all the same! using a stock t.b is pointless with that manifold.
I am running a stock LS TB right now.. Lol.. But will upgrade to a Skunk2. So just to clear things out, I need a 65mm TB (to match the inlet of my manifold) ? What if I get a bigger TB bore? Would that be pointless? Thanks.
Well first call aebs and see what size its bored to then match the the t.b if you get a bigger tb or want a bigger one you can have the inlet port matched to the bigger t.b!
It wouldn't be pointless but might hurt you a little bit depending on your engine setup. if you run a 68mm TB it might cause you to lose power. think bottlenecking.
I would say its still pointless to use a bigger bore t.b!, why put a bolt on that robs you of performace, yes it will work! but the point is to get some + gains. if your not looking to tune this motor than go ahead throw it on (68mm) it will work! but its pointless cause now you have a aftermarket manifold and t.b thats throwing your air fuel ratio off if not tuned in, power wise you will get a bottle neck affect that will cause some air flow dips nothing to major maybe 1 or 2 hp loss but when making power that 1 or 2 will count! your stock tb shouldnt give any dips it just wont be able to use the full potential of the bigger ports and runners in that manifold.
My car IS tuned and WILL be tuned when I get this throttle body.. So what is the bottom line? Is it ok for me to get a bigger TB or just match my IM inlet? Thanks fellaz.

either way you should be good after the tune.
