We have one BDL and one GE cam gear. The BDL thread size is smaller; after checking the cam centerlines several times this year, the threads stripped on one. The GE cam gear uses a larger bolt and is more reliable when you have to loosen/tighten the fasteners a lot. The GE gears are also easier to read.
i am using skunk2 pro series cam gears just to go with the pro 1 cams.
I had a friend who try using vision cam gears and the timing marks were waaayy off!

I bought the crowers about 8 years ago when they first came out surprisingly they work good. No probs.I check my timming through them and they are rite on downfall is they are expensive
The 5 bolt AEM gears work well. We prefer a cam gear that has a hex head bolt as opposed to an allen key bolt. Allens are so easy to strip and to me it just seems more logical, GE gears also have them I believe.
I have BDL cam gears and never had an issue with them. Did you try contacting BDL about your issue?
I've used the Golden Eagle ones for a really really long time now. Had a few different sets on a few different engines. They work great for me. Easy to read, look good, hold up, and are a little cheaper than a few others.
I've heard a lot of bad things about the pro-series gears breaking lately.

Skunk2 Pro series but changed the bolts cause they didnt even go half the thread. Ran the bolts from the back side hex head style and a nlocking nut on the outside. warks great had them for like 3 years now.
