What do you think of this boosted Prelude?
I was approached by this kid with his 1995 Prelude SI. I'd like to see if anyone noticed any red flags in his specs or any issues to watch out for.
The Car:
1995 Honda Prelude SI
138k Motor rebuilt at 110k
H23A1 2.3L DOHC
Garrett t3/t4 Hybrid Turbo .57 Trim 60 A/R Compressor, 63 A/R Turbine
Custom Log Turbo Manifold
2.25 Mild Steel Charge Pipes
28 X 6 Front Mount Intercooler
Tial 38mm Wastegate
DSM 1st Gen BOV
Half Rad with 12in Slim Fan
ARP Head Studs
Hasting Piston Rings
Cleavite 77 Rod/Main Bearings
Felpro Gaskets
OEM Timing Belt/Waterpump
Clutch Specialties Stage 3 6-puck w/450 ft/lb pressure plate
Fidanza 8lb flywheel w/replacable friction disk
Crome Pro Tuned P06 ECU w/2 step rev limiter @ 5500RPM
Stainless Steel 2.5in Hayame Catback
Custom 2.5in Catless Downpipe w/internal dump for wastegate
A/C removed
Velox 17 X 7 Gunmetal Wheels, Wanli 205/40/17 Tires
KYB GR2 Struts w/ H&R Race Springs 2.00/2.25 Drop
Black JDM Style One Piece Headlights
NOTES:
Owner said it will need a cat for emissions (PA), a camber kit, and maybe some new rings because it smokes a little but nothing bad. He said the kid before him ran it boosted for 3 years with no problems and it's on a street tune @ 9PSI estimated at 280whp (rich tune). It had a new log turbo manifold put on this summer because the old one had a crack in it.
It's got a new civic half radiator, starter, sway bar end links, water pump, timing belt, clutch master slave cylinders, and fuel pump within a year and a half.

^nice sig
anyway, prelude looks ok. i see some rust, the wheels are horrible but other than that i wouldnt do it.
ask yourself why is he selling it? did he beat on it? do alot of research on your own and make sure your prepared to take on someone else's project/turbo car.
if something happens will you know what to do? do your research and good luck

Things to watch out for:
Do a compression and leakdown test on the motor.
Check the coolant and oil for any signs of it mixing.
Check the turbo for shaftplay
then consider upgrading the exhaust to 3"

I don't know about this one.It looks like a pretty nice looking body except for the small rust. My concern wouls be Clevite engine bearings and the Hastings riings.
Buying someone's car like this seems like it's always a bad idea to me. Everybody is saying the same things. Something is going to go wrong somewhere. A few things bother me. 1. You're buying it from a "kid" who bought it from a "kid" that had it boosted for 3 years on a street tune. That car got the **** kicked out of it before. 2. RUST. 3. If you have to come to use to see if it's a good idea or not, that probably means you're not ready for the **** that's GOING to hit the fan eventually with a turbo build. You're going to have to do a lot of maintenance, and something will go wrong somewhere. I guess, pending price, it's up to you. We can all tell you what we think, but after all, it's your money. Spend it if you want.
Other than the rust spots ..it looks like it's in good condition.
