04 odisey trans gone bad any other traini for it?
ok my mother owns a 04 oddissey n she replaced the trani 2 times so i wanted to know if we could swap the tranni for another better n stronger. If i can do that trannis could i use?
first, how many miles are on your Odessey? there should have been an extension on the warranty for the tranny since we have had a few problems with them. I have replaced them at 120K miles even when the customer had NO other warranty coverage what-so-ever.
second, how often, if at all, is your mom having the trans serviced? the normal should be every 30K miles and severe duty should be every 15K miles. the reason I ask is because 90% of the ones I have replaced were because of LACK OF SEVICE. just because its a Honda doesnt mean it will last forever with out having to maintain it.
also, if and when, you have it serviced, please tell me you are not taking it to super-lube and letting them do a flush on it. that will cause one to go out quicker.
third, where were these trannies coming from that were put in? did they come from Honda or did they come out of a salvage yard?
now as far as replacements, you could use one from a 2 wheel drive Pilot from '05-'08. those are a little tougher and I have only replaced ONE of those.

The trani was replace from lack of servise. The new tranni came from the junk yard but it also went out. It worked good with no problems until it broke down. How much for the tranni n shipping to MD?
lack of maintainance is the #1 cause of trans failure in any tranny so that is understandable. as for shipping a tranny up there to you, I would have to find one first, but it would be easier for you to find one where you are and probably be a little cheaper, especially since I'm in south Georgis. just remember, when the next one is put in, service it and you may even want to use a synthetic fluid from Amsoil. there is another member on here using it in his MDX tranny and so far has had very good results with it. hope this helps and good luck with it.
