DA Halfshaft question
Ok - i have a Eg Hatch with an B18a, i used to have a b16 trans in the car until the trans started leaking from the halfshaft seal... we couldnt find a direct part number since we werent offered a b16 cable trans here in the states, so we had the seal mic'd we installed it and it still continued to leak. the leak is only there at higher speeds/rpms... but its a big leak. its almost pissing out all the oil from the trans instantly.
so we picked up an LS cable trans... we installed it and everything with the swap went seemingly well... well now the trans is STILL leaking from that half shaft seal..
i am pretty sure that i am using 91-93 DA Axles... but i am not 100% sure what the halfshaft is from. I have had this car for about 2 years now and didnt have this issue before. now we can't figure out whats going on here.
Are the Intermediate Half Shafts for a LS DA and a GSR DA the same? could this be an issue of the wrong half shaft? Are the half shaft seals different between the years? or could we have just possibly installed the seal improperly? (i kind of doubt this saying we have done a few before with out problems like this)
I checked the b16 trans that we pulled and the seal doesn't appear to be ripped/nicked/or torn in any way... i am going to pull the half shaft today to see if there are any gauges in it that may cause the seal to leak... but i would appreciate anyone else's input on this because i am pretty much stumped at this point.
thanks guys

all da halfshafts are the same. i had the same problem. all i did to fix it was to buy another seal and pressing it in with a hammer and a socket the same diameter of the seal. made sure that it seated all the way into the case. didn't leak after that. good luck!

nope... heres the deal.. i had this car for 2 years... traded it and got it back. i am starting to think who ever had the car before me changed the seal with the wrong one...
we put the first seal we took off on the half shaft and there is all sorts of play inbetween the seal and the half shaft... even when the seal is all the way up to the cup on the half shaft. my room mate said he just got a seal that should work, he mic'd it... so i guess wish me luck lol. lets see what happens
