Default ISB seal question...

D16z6 5-speed
How bad does it need to be damaged to start leaking?

I recently replaced the ISB in my tranny and while sliding the mainshaft back in the teeth on the end clipped the new seal and tore it a little on the inside on the side of the seal facing up towards the shaft. I needed the car ASAP and installed the tranny anyway. I know the obvious is that I should have replaced it again while it was out but I didn't have time to wait a few days for the new one to be shipped. It's been 2 days since the repair and there haven't been any leaks as of yet.

Is it gonna get worse overtime and am I looking at a future where I'll be dropping the tranny again soon?...

bit of a pointless question.
either take it out and fix it now or wait and see.

If you tore the seal you need to replace it. Most dealerships have them in stock, if not it takes them a day to get it unless you're in the boonies.

Pointless maybe, Ive seen worse questions.

I just wanted to know how much wear it takes to leak. Like those who have pulled a leaking one out maybe they could give me insight into how bad it looked.

ummm.. i fix honda's all day every day and when i take one out that leaks i don't look at it, i throw it away.
seals are changed for age and brittle rubber. no one can gauge a cut and how bad yours is going to be.
