Icon6 Building a D series on homeless man budget.. any comments?

I am going to do a complete rebuild on a d16 series engine. I have a 92 civic hatch with the stock d15. and I'm hoping for 200 whp or something close. But I pretty much know the basic of the basics. soo please any suggestions would really help me out.
Should I do a y8 bottom and z6 head?
where should I go for reliable, cheap parts?
am I going to have to mess with much wiring?

Your looking for 200whp from a d series but you're worried about "some wiring"

Dude pretty much the only way to get that out of a d is turbo/supercharger and you gotta put in some real work for that.

Google

dammit, well I guess I should just build a base for a turbo? and I'm worried about wiring because I always mess up when it comes to electrical.

not to sound too stupid (I know it's going to sound stupid anyway) but what's the major difference between the short block and long block? haha wow I'm just waiting for people to make fun of me.

You can safely put 10psi boost on all stock internals for a long time with no problems (not raping it daily of course and a good tune)

It just depends how fast you wanna go?
You dont gotta build unless you plan on 12+ or running it very hard often

short block is just the block and head. Some have different opinion of what a "long block" is but for me, a long block should come with a intake manifold, throttle body, distributor, and pretty much everything that you need other than a tranny, axels, linkage, and ecu. As for your "noob-ness" to hondas; don't worry about it man, we all start somewhere. GL

i always new the short block was just a complete block with out the head and the long block was a complete motor with out tranny. that was my idea.

I was thinking of just 7-10 psi and I guess I wouldn't need to rebuild if I bought and engine with low miles already. and I was thinking about going 140 mph lol if not faster. Any estimates on cost?
wow I was way off on the long/short block assumptions. I'll be looking for a long block/ complete engine pretty much.
Is vtec wired in already for 92 Civic Hatch?

Thanks for all the help guys keep it coming!

darn, pretty sure mine's the bone stock dx? it's only got the d15 no vtec and I just don't seem to that kind of luck. I can't exactly look at the car right now.. I'm in Iraq. soo I'll definitely be back on here with another thread with more details. but this is really helping me out for now.

supercharge or turbo the d engine but you need to rebuild the bottom end in order for it to be able to hold the boost

Yeah, thank you for supporting us. I'm just following my grandpa's footsteps.

Wiring VTEC in is 2 wires run from the ECU to the engine compartment. It's not hard. Find the pinout for a P28 ECU, run two wires alongside the place where the normal harness goes through the firewall and make your connections. If you need pins to add to your ECU plugs, I can mail you a couple if you can't find any.
