B18C1 Swap
I'm new to Honda-tech, wanted to say "whats up". I have a 92' Civic LX about to go into surgery to get it's new "heart". A nice B18C1 1.8L DOHC VTEC. Any ideas on what else I should put in while the engine is still out? I need serious help with engine performance. Not sure what else to get. New header? Which will work best w/ this engine? I have no clue. Anyone willing to be a mentor.

It's VTEC, no H
Who is doing this swap? If it's a shop make sure they have done it before and do all the normal things (belts, hoses, oil, ect). Then just get the motor in and running and later worry about what you need next. Also search the forums and you'll find out many people have this swap and see what they have posted.

A shop in MD is doing the swap. They specialize in imports. So I shouldn't get a new header, intake, exaust, radiator? I'd like a dual exuast, 1 on each side of the rear. Is this possible?
The engine is a B18C1 DOHC VTEC 1.8L GSR from an Integra. What other engine can I use to get the same HP if not more?

SEARCH!!!!!
That's all you can do. Don't expect to go to one board and post a question and have all your questions answered without even looking for yourself. YOU need to get up and find out what is out there, what you want, what you can afford, what your doing in the future, and what parts you want for the swap. It's your car! For tech questions and install questions that have not already been covered in other threads please feel free to come and ask away! Just remember it's called VTEC not VTECH.

I'm getting the motor from hondamotorsonline. Going to inlinepro for the swap. can you recommend someone closer than inline just as reputable. By the way my car is an auto needing to convert to a manual for the engine.
Nice,What did you base your decision on?$5500 is alot to spend on something you dont know about.Congrats tho.
Some people get bothered when you ask a question THEY know(And wont tell you),but when they ask a question they can say it is worthy,Next time someone says "Do a Search",do one, search all of that users posts, find out all his "unworthy" posts and there will probably be many, So dont let them get you down, the other half of their posts all say."Do a search"LOL

well I'm still really reading alot on the types. learning differences and based on my usage, I'll decide. could very well be I go to the b18c1 cost less. can't reply to much I'm a trila member and my five for the day are almost up. that bites
The B18C1 is prolly the most cost efficient motor in terms of HP and not having to modify the car much to make the engine work. Its a good swap with a lot of potential.
The reason everyone is telling you to search and whatnot is because if you read, this question is asked ALOT, and most of the time when you research you'll come to this conclusion.....
Basic B-Series swaps in an EG are nice, especially in a lighter hatch, because the HP to Weight ratio is excellent. They are cheap and relatively easy to set up.
For an even cheaper setup but something thats a bit harder to set up but provides alot more power, you could go with a frankenstein motor. CRVTEC or LS/VTEC, something of that nature. I didn't go this route cause something tells me I wouldn't be able to maintain the motor, and the way I drive I'd be in the market for a new motor in a year or two.
Finally, you can get a non-vtec engine like the b18b or even a b20 and boost it to your heart's content for a NICE power outage.
First take a minute to pool together your resources in front of you and realize what you WANT out of your CAR, what you're more than likely to GET, and how much money you have to spend...
I did this and ended up ordering a JDM B16 from hondamotorsonline.com after months of deliberation.
Good luck.
PS For more info, post in the Hybrid forums after SEARCHING for other topics like this one.
EDIT: With that 5 a day trial usage, use the time where you can't post alot to READ READ READ!
