anyone ever tow a tiny boat or jet ski with a teg?
this, by my own admission might be one of the more insane posts that i have ever made, never the less, i have to ask.
considering if it would be possible to tow up to 1000-1200lb on a trailer with the teg. my biggest worry is the clutch. if anyone has tried this, did you have to use a ceramic disc or stronger? i'm on 500/430 ground controls so the rate should be good to handle the weight. just wonder about the clutch.
i was looking at a 96 s10 for next to nothing today & almost bought it for a boat tow-er before i scratched my head and thought "Gee, an ITR engine is stronger and the teg is lighter"

Hahahaha I wouldn't try it especially if there is a lot of uphill involve.Regardless, I think the clutch will still burn a good amount towing anything that heavy.Tegs don't make enough low end torque or just torque in general to make it a towing machine hahahahaha unless you have no other options lol.I say, leave the towing to rwd trucks with at least 160 ft lb of torque.
the other option is the corvette which seems equally weird but it is much more powerful. an ls6 versus a b18c in terms of power would make a huge difference towing. the clutch is still my only worry this way too. bone stock 2003 z06 uses a regular organic disc but with a good deal more clamping force and size than the teg does. i just use the teg for all my hauling, loading, winter duty etc.
A friend of mines has a 2000 Integra GSR that he uses to tow an aluminum boat. He doesn't have any problems with the clutch or hauling it. But of course, what he tows doesn't weight that much, so it probably depends what you have in mind. I have seen an eg hatch living in my area hauing two jet skis. It looked fine to me.
I used to see this guy driving a yellow type-r towing a trailer with a lawnmower and weedwackers and stuff on it just about everyday. I never understood it

My friend back in college had a gsr on 17's that was rim tucked. He towed around his 2 person jet ski around town, then bring it down to the boat launch. Everyone would just stop and stare....it was pretty funny, but he had no problems towing it. Oh, forgot to mention that he had a pretty nice turbo set up on it as well! lol
i have the jdm itr and matching trans so at least there is close gearing and an lsd. two jet skiis is roughly 1200lbs on a trailer which is the MAX i was considering. i'll have to take pics of this and post next summer LOL. another reason i would prefer the teg over the Z is the fwd factor. if i have to back up near the water to launch i don't want a rwd getting tire soaked
towing has alot more to do with the chassis it sits on... your Teg would probably get tweaked under a heavy tow.
it's different than a couple of fat people sitting in your back seat

i did consider this. hard bumps heavy tows. the 430lb rear springs help with keeping it under control, but, like others have said. i just really better keep what i tow small.
Back in the days.. I've towed a bigass trailer (one with a cage thingie) and a **** load of camping equipment pots, pans, tent, sleeping bags for 5 guys) down to Yosemite in the 1st gen Integra.. never had any problems beside the brakes being burned from going down hill.. it was crazy.. but ahhh good times good times!
i towed my friends eg hatch with my integra ls auto for about 20miles on a small incline it was ok. check the manual and it will show you the recommended weight it can haul
I saw an Integra towing another Integra w/trailer on here, I wouldn't try it with any inclines though. You would probably be fine with a jet ski or small boat, as long as you dont spin wet tires pulling it out of the water.
It would suck to have to slam on the brakes, who knows what would happen. I'd go with the truck for any real towing.
