Hi, i own a Honda civic 2009 sedan DX-G

and im just wondering if a 225/40/18 will fit on this car without changing anything just like putting it and then ready to drive is that possible?
or do i have to do somethign to the car or add iunno im very newb with cars trying to learn atm lol dont even kno what is 225/40 i kno the 18 is the inch of the mags.
and about the tires 225/40 is it good to drive?? do you feel any difference? how long will it last the tires? in montreal ..?
thanks in advance.

You can't fit 225/40/18 tires on your current rims. If you're getting new rims then you'll need to know the size and width.
But if you have an 09 why do you need new tires? Are your current ones bald or are you getting winter tires?

225/40 would work on your car with a different set of rims. If your in Montreal though I would not recommend that for an all-season. You would definately need a thinner tire (205 or 195) in the winter.
If you are planning to convert your 15's to winter and get a set of 18s in the summer that would work. You would obviously need a 18 wheels with the tires.

welll the stock one i got its p195/65/15 mags , for winter i already got my tires... i just got a random tires iwth rims lol. and what im talking about its the aftermarket cuz i got a friend of mine sellling his mags and tires for 100$ >.> 225/40/18. so ya 18 inch mags adn the tires are 225/40 so im like its worth it the only thing is i need to buy new tires since his is like too abused with driftin. and the mags not bad condition and he told me i can go somewhere to refurbish the mags for like 100-200$ i mean in the end im spending maybe 800$ for refurbishin the mags and get 4 new tires 225/40 my question is really will it fit on the 09 civic sedan 4 door without modifying anything in it .
and to SI87 if i do get a 205 or 195 instead of 225 with the 18 mags will it fit? cuz im afraid if i get the bigger tires it might rub on the car but then again the current stock its p195/65 the tires are like big i want the small racing one the very thin one so when u proposed 205 or 195 im guessing its bigger than a 225/40? * sorry im new and kno nothing about tires *

bwill9886 hmm i don kno to be honest with you im like the noobest pperson if u talk to me about car cuz i just got the civic like 3 months ago and got interested in aftermarket things. the only th ing i konw its 225/40/18 and its -43 offset and 5 bolt universal and a civic does have 5 bolts but i dont kno what it means the -43 offset and how u calculate the 225/40 , i just kno that the 225/40 tires are very thin cuz i saw on the mags.

Well don't worry about the offset if you don't even know if the wheel will go on the car!
Bolt pattern for your Civic is 5x114.3
If that wheel does not support that, its time to find yourself some other wheels.
Besides, if you were/are gonna spend about 800 bucks on those, you can find a pretty nice set that you know will work on your car if you look around. Craigslist or Ebay can be your friend. Forums (such as good ole Honda-tech) can have good deals in the For sale sections.

thanks bwill9886 i was actually thinking about that since if im gonna spend 800$ or more to refurbished those mags and get new 225/40 tires.. and i saw on some website some nice 17 and 18 inch mags that comes with tires for a nice price and good looking too.
the problem is does the brand of the rims actually matters? like i see lot of brand and have no idea which one is good or not or whatsoever ,
and i might reconsider of buying a 17 inch instead of a 18. ive done a little research apparently in montreal if i drive with 18inch mags with 225/40/18 , since montreal streets isnt that good , if the tires is like 225/40 sometimes if i hit bumps or bad streets i can actually damage my mags from the inside, so ive been told to get 17 inch with 215/45/17 . would work better in montreal thats what i heard, feedbacks?

K5 talk to some old heads. They always call wheels "mags". I guess it's an acceptable term! haha I wouldn't say it but whatever....You really never heard wheels called mags before? Oh well kinda funny

I would go with 17's or under for the fact that in my opinion, 18's look too big on Civics.
The bad roads in your area should be taken into consideration. Though you should be looking at your tire profile (width of the tire sidewall) more than the size of the wheel when talking about bending one. The more tire profile you have, the more protection from the bad roads you will have. Also, your ride will be smoother. Make sense?
For example, I'd go with no lower than a 45 profile because it will give you protection and a smoother ride. It will also still give your wheels a nice stance without the tires looking too large.
^ 18's are not too big on a civic. Honda puts them on the civic from the factory. Have you seen the pic thread?
You can get 40 series that are taller and 50 series that are shorter than your 45 series. That number is called the aspect ratio so you are only telling part of the story when you tell him to get no smaller than a 45 series.

-Tire profile size: Too small= running the risk of blowing them out faily easily. Too big= not the most appealing look for a Honda. A bigger profile will also limit the size of your wheel as theres only so much room in your wheel well.
-Tire width: The width of the rubber you are putting to the ground. Some vehicles can handle more than others. Civics are usually found to accept up to 215 without problems. 225 can be done, but some Civics run into issues with clearance.
-Wheel size: Bigger wheels= fill the wheel well more (better looks for some people) but also run the risk of blowing out more tires (relates to them only being able to use low profile tires, which are usually considered 40 or less). Smaller wheels may not look good to some, but they will definitely ride better and you will have less issue with clearance in your wheel well.
-Ride height: As you probably know, you can change the height of your suspension with aftermarket parts. This will also affect how much wheel/tire you can fit. A lower car will obviously have less room, while stock ride height will provide more. (And if you want to go Donk status, don't even bother asking questions about that on a Honda forum, you won't get very far)
Basically you need to look at pictures of different wheels on whatever civic you own and see which ones you like best. Look at the different ride heights, wheel sizes, and tire sizes and decide for yourself. And don't be afraid to ask someone about their combo if you like their setup! Good luck.

I don't. Too much weight and not enough tire IMO. Plus I like my cars lowered at least a bit, so I definitely wouldn't put 18's on one then.
And yes, you can get different heights for each series. My bad.
I see. What else you got for me AJP? No quips about your turbo? LOL
Haha..come on K5 do you really want me to talk about the turbo! I've been decent lately. It's only the people that make me do it!
And Bwill I have 245/30/19 on mine. I have HFP suspension and wheels are 19X8 55 offset and I have 20mm spacers to clear my wilwood calipers. They are just flush with fenders and maintain the stock diameter of 24.8" tall....Stock 17's are 24.6" and mugen's are 25.1" I believe.

Yeah, there are plenty of places that sell nice wheel and tire packages for pretty cheap. Most of the ones in your price range will have a pretty nice set of wheels and ok tires. Nothing too fancy. Brand can matter, but a lot of cheaper brands will be just fine for your purposes. The more expensive brands will TYPICALLY, but not always, have better designs and be made stronger, but you pay extra for all that.

OP 225 40 is your best best. It's 25.1" OD which is .5" bigger than stock which is acceptable. The 225 45 has an OD of 25.9" which is 1.1" bigger than stock. That is too much also you will be going faster than what your speedo says
