Toda vs. CTR vs. IB Spec Pistons
I was wondering about these pistons. They are all different prices, but by the way they're designed do you offer the same amount of compression increase?
Say we look at 81.5mm pistons for all three? Would they all offer the same compression increase for a 1.8L block?

New Z06 owns you huh?
We could change that pal. LOL For alot less than a Z06!

I ran Toda pistons in my B18C1 block but I melted two of them at the OTC when I spun all the crank bearings. They melted just below the top surface where the rings seat. They are really nicely constructed pistons, no doubt, but I wouldn't buy another set given the cost compared to other high quality pistons like Wiseco or Probe.
I used CTR pistons in my B16a block and I just blew the #4 piston up very nicely while road racing at Toronto Motorsport Park. Here are some pics...

Wreaked havoc in the combustion chamber too. Completely pancaked the spark plug, destroyed several valves, and of course completely seized the engine. I'm not sure if a forged piston would have survived any better or prevented some of the collateral damage but I won't be using CTR pistons again. Too many clearance issues if you're looking to run big compression and big cams.
If I build another high compression engine I was planning on going with Rollerwaves but I like the look of the IB pistons so I think I'll give them a try instead. If money was no object I'd consider the Todas again since I'm running Toda cams but for the money the Wiseco IB's look very nice IMO.

I'm not a JDM junkie, Does Toda make pistons??????

Complete Toda Catalog Minus the ITB's in my car
As Far as compression #'s
Toda Will yeild 12.4:1
CTR Should be about 12.1:1
Toda's Forged Piston Set
Would CTR pistons in an ITR engine (giving 12:1 CR if I have read correctly) cope with JUN III/TODA B/Skunk2 II type cams?
The thing is that there is not much valve/piston clearance, so you cannot do much camgear tuning.

Huh?? I had PLENTY of clearance. But you should always be smart and check.
