It's a DX which oddly enough means it's got more options than the 'Wagovan' version.
Sitting on stock suspension now so it's not like the low rider pic. A previous owner had put some cheap progressive springs on it which blew the shocks out. I mean destroyed the things. So, I think the front end may have a bushing or two that could be replaced. I'm not a steering/suspension man. It's a little clunky, but works fine. It's stock 88 suspension which means it's using 88 rear LCAs.
Has ~130K miles, motor has had the timing belt replaced by the PO. The valves are a little noisy when you crank it up stone cold, but quiet down to normal in 30 seconds or so. Motor seems strong (relatively speaking) albeit a bit slow being a stock DPI motor. Upside is it's unmolested and totally stock. Idles better than my wife's car that's 15 years newer. No skips, no misses, no smoke, no burning oil, gets about 30 miles to the gallon when I checked it. Never skips a beat and would take you cross country in a heart beat. Stays at a good temp even when sitting idle in the heat with the AC running.
Tranny is a 5 speed manual, seems fine to me. Shifts can be a little clunky due to a motor mount that needs replacing (or filling with silicone). No grinds between gears, no popping out of gear or anything funny like that.
No power steering, didn't come with it. Not a big deal as it's not a heavy car and has tires the size of bagels. The AC robs enough power without PS, lol
Wheels are so-so. Rears have camber wear due to the blown-the-f**k-out shocks which got replaced with more used ones. The suspension I replaced it with had factory shocks with crap bushings, so really some fresh shocks all the way around would be best, but it'll ride all day on what it's got. When I replaced the suspension I put the rear tires on the front, seemed to help. The rears aren't showing metal or anything, but I'd probably replace them on down the road. They're running on VX wheels which seem to be absolutely weightless. They'll take you a few states away without exploding, but still, safety says replace them once home.
Interior is nice, the driver seat has the normal wear holes which I've sewn patches over. Not the prettiest solution but keeps the stuffing from coming out. The rest are untorn. I cleaned them once but they could stand another cleaning. The dash and everything else plastic is in very good shape. Only crack is about an inch long where the windshield meets the dash at a screw cover. Not really noticeable. The rest looks pretty damn good.
Body has the usual 20 year dings here and there and the normal rust in the rear quarter panels. Not the worst case of it I've seen by far, but it's there. Dings are pretty small, nothing looks like a car backed into it or anything.
Windows were tinted by a PO. Pretty dark, looks good on it.
It's got a few goodies like a stock luggage rack, rear defroster, passenger side rear view mirror, rear winshield wiper. The AC works, now it's not going to freeze your ***** off when it's 98 degrees out, but it'll cool you down enough you'll be thankful you have it.
I'm getting rid of it because years back I sold a Civic that someone will be selling back to me soon, so I'll have one Honda in the stable. My Volvo addiction is starting to bite at me again so I'm in the market for an 850 and the Civic has to go.
I'm looking for $1500 firm. By firm I mean like Viagra firm. I may drop the price later on if it doesn't sell but I'm in no great rush to sell it, the AC works and it will get me anywhere I want to go, so I'll take my time. Possible, but unlikely trade, really looking for a Volvo 850 without a leaking RMS.
