Default New Azenis

I was checking out the new Option2 mag and there was a press release on the 'New' Azenis RT215. As of July 25, seems that the 'new' version went on sale in japan. Not sure if this will come to the US though. From what I can gather, the only change is the tyre compound. It uses a new "AZ Compound" for better:
- handling
- response
- wear

available sizes are same as before:
245/40ZR18 205/50R16 87V 205/60R15 91H
255/40ZR17 225/50R16 92V 175/60R14 82H
215/45ZR17 205/55R16 89V 195/60R14 86H
225/45ZR17 205/50R15 85V
235/45ZR17 195/55R15 84V
245/45ZR17
215/45ZR16

With the way the regular azenis sell, i dont see a need to import these over..unless they discontinue the sports and decide just to sell these.

not treadwear is listed on the jdm site

195/55R15 is not available anymore

check this out though

'old' azenis vs 'new' azenis = 1.45 sec laptime improvements

They must be a "bit" softer!
The regular/older ones were around a 200.

Kanji makes my eyes bug out.

And cool find. Too bad we get everything at a later date or not at all.

I highly doubt that they are going to use 2 different tread compounds for the 2 different markets...could be done though, but from what I remember they were having trouble keeping up with demand, which leads me to believe that they will change their entire Azenis line to reflect the new compound for better shipping logistics...damn it, marketing stuff again...that's what happens when you work at a Sales and Marketing firm

No arguments with that!

better:
- wear
What does this mean? Lasts longer? Wears more evenly? Doesn't chunk?

I'm calling BS on the lap times. 1.45 is a HUGE change on a course under 2 minutes. I mean, like ridiculously big.

I'm guessing they took the worst lap time of the old compound compared to the best time of the new one, or the times were on different days. Something doesn't add up here.

I'm gonna have to go with the alltime favorite trick of sandbagging. Just a bit.

I have no doubt that they improved the compound, but 1.45 seconds is ridiculous.
