After the experiences I had when my clutch failed recently, I'm writing Acura. Here's a link if you want to read about it.

In short:
David and Mike Harvey Acura
Acura of Serramonte and Acura Customer Care
I'm trying to get an idea of how many others have had similar clutch failures. Those of you who have had clutches fail prematurely, could you please post what failed and at approximately what mileage it failed at.
Also, can someone confirm if the stock clutch/pressure plate in the Type R is the same as the GSR and LS/GS? I'm getting two different stories. Thanks in advance.

My clutch won’t shut up!!!
I'm at 69,000 Km but it started at around 65,000.
The sound comes from the drivers side so I doubt it's the release bearing. It sounds as if it it's coming from the actual pedal and/or the master cylinder.
Any insight would be appreciated.

At 20,000 miles I have issues with the clutch...doesn't engage correctly, however it still holds without an issue...the local dealership is a bunch of yahoos that I don't care to have working on my car, other than that the closest dealership would be ~1.5 hours, I'm going to change the clutch out by myself...

I got 110,000 km on mine before it finally broke. I thought it was pretty good. Still held strong too, just the spring retainer broke on the disk....

24,500 miles and my clutch is acting up, it doesn't enguage properly all of the time. From what I hear, it's the pressure plate springs. I'll get it fixed when I get back.
At 35,000 miles, Acura replaced my clutch at the same time the replaced my motor.
The newer clutch only lasted 25,000 miles of very easy driving. (Not track events, no autoX's or strip events) The pressure place spring broke.
It shouldn't have failed at 25,000 miles.

However, Acura did replace my clutch under warranty without a problem.
I'm starting to think that Honda clutches suck a$$.
I forgot to add...that I have never drag raced or autocrossed my Type R.

I'm at 43,000mi with around 90-110 drag launches and three auto-x events not to mention I use to drive the crap out of it back in my mad street racing dayz.
My clutch guage has always been my glove box which use to pop open on every 1-2 shift. Now its just sits there all nice and closed up. I kinda miss reaching over to shut it during 3rd gear at the strip. My manual is getting all lonely too since he use to come out and scare unsuspecting passengers. He sure was a prankster, but now I rarely see him unless I'm getting my tire pressure guage. Ah the good ole days

I had a problem with my OEM clutch on my '98 ITR @ 42,000 miles. I was driving back from Carlisle PA to NOVA and I went to downshift from 5th to 4th. It wouldn't go into gear, so I tried 3rd...still didn't go. I barely got it back into 5th. Ended up driving back to the dealer in 5th (which sucked). They called me to let me know my clutch was shot and my flywheel was cracked in half?! Whatever. I now have an ACT and a Fidanza (which I am not satisfied with b/c of of chatter problems, but thats a whole different story...)

I am at 84000 KM and the clutch is starting to give signs of failure in a not to distant future. Gears won't engage properly, need to give more gas to go from a stand still... I am waiting for an new Exedy clutch so I can give a new life to the car (with the help of a ATS FD and lighter FW)
