Default Violent shaking @ 60+ MPH on FWY

i have an unsual problem in my 96 civic hatch. it drives fine until i go on the fwy. if i accelerate past 60, the whole front end feels like it's shaking violently - dash, steering wheel, left/right tires, but if the speed drops under 50mph, it's fine. WTF?! i checked to see if my lugnuts are loose, but they're on tight. it's too dark to take a look underneath my car, but what's likely the problem so i get an idea? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

i have the same problem if i hit 80 and drop to 70 lol, i think it might be a shot axle, i know for a fact that my passanger side axle is done for, and the bushings are bad. thats just my 2 cents, i could be completly wrong though.

axles you usually feel when u accelerate and not at specific speeds. I had this problem and my motor mounts were bad, and i also had some bad ball joints

Are your tires going bad? When was the last time you had an alignment? Are your motor mounts in good condition? These are the first things I would check, in that order.

yeah check the wear pattern on your tires for alignment issues and see if your tires need balancing. i have the same problem at 70 but 60 is fine.

Check your outer tie rods also. 10mph window of shaking usually means an outer tie rod problem.

yeah do whats been said above, also you should check your ball joints to see what kind of condition they are in.
