1996 HONDA LX Clutch??
I guys/girls..
I have a 96 honda civic lx my car drives fine and runs good however it has 280,000 kms on it. This is my problem when shifting the car in any gear the car seems jump ever time you hit the gas ....(Kind of hard to explain) what would this be from ? maybe a worn out clutch?
Please help any info would be great !

I know the clutch has never been replaced.... so I was told anyway and the car has lots of power it dont really bog out.
let me try and explain it this way , when driving my car in 2nd gear with low rpm's( 2,500- 3,000) if I were to press on the gas the car jumps!! even when barely touching the gas, this happens in 3rd gear 4th gear and 5th gear what could this be from ?
Is this happening when you are completely off the gas pedal and just try to feather back on the gas? After you get back on the gas, is it kinda jerky for a second too? Last question, is it more sensitive when you are in a lower gear (ex. 1st or 2nd) than if you are in 5th?
My car does the same thing. I believe the jumpiness (I think this is a word) is from play in the engine mounts. Your engine actually will tilt slightly back and forth depending if you are decelerating or accelerating. All cars have some play, and depending on how many miles are on your car, it could be more or less. Let me know if this is what you are experiencing. As for a fix, unless the jumpiness is really terrible and your engine mounts are in really tough shape, I probably wouldn't do anything about it.
Hopefully this info has helped.

It is annoying when it happens and my car has about 212K on it (it is also a 96 civic LX). I have had it about three years and bought it with 153K. I haven't really noticed it get any worse in that time. Maybe slightly if any. All five speeds do it, but it is more noticeable with a front-wheel drive car than a rear-wheel drive car in my experience.
I'm not sure if getting new or stiffer engine mounts would help it any. Maybe somebody else would have information about that. It would be kinda neat to figure that out.

I didn't say go out and buy motor mounts. You could give them a look though. I think there are three main mounts one on each side of the motor and one on the back. If the rubber bushings that are inside the mounts are deteriorated terribly that might help to get them replaced. But I do not know how much improvement you will see from replacing them. By spec, the engine is supposed to have a little play. This is so that you don't end up breaking anything. I think if you were to get aftermarket performance mounts, it would stiffen up the motor a little bit, but I haven't done any research on this or the cost.
A missfire WILL NOT cause it to jump as the OP describes. It will bog down like crazy. And you will most likely hear it.
I'm leaning towards mounts as well. But you should still get the o2 sensor replaced.

The secondary O2 sensor is just a monitor. It has NO bearing on how the car runs.
I'm not sure what you mean by "jumps", though, OP.
It might be mounts. Take a look at your driver's side upper engine mount. It is located near the shock tower. That mount is liquid filled and is VERY prone to breaking on 96-00 civics.

yeah I know Im not doing a good job telling you whats going on with my car.
To be honest it really hard to describe what going on with my car.
I will change the o2 sensor its not alot of money, as for the motor mount is there anyway to tell if its broken just by looking at it ?

^^ you can tell if the mount is broken by looking at it by following these steps:
Look at it.
If it's torn and there's oil everywhere, it's broken.
The 02 sensor is probably cheap. www.sparkplugs.com has OEM O2 sensors for cheap.
