h22 for $400...good price?
I don't know much about h22 engines but this guy told me he's selling a jdm h22 for $400.
I've been wanting a dohc so I think this may be good for me but I bought my jdm d15b for $450 and I know dohc integra engines go for a lot more so why is this so cheap?
Is there a downside to these engines and what all needs to be changed for it to work in a eg civic?

I would go with a b series rather than h22, because i think it much more difficult to put the h22 in. Here is a link that might help on how to put a h22 in a civic.

Its almost 2010 -- ALOT has changed -- names H2B swap?
I would jump all over a $400 H22 ESPECIALLY if its in good shape.
The JDM H22 will make more hp and torque than any stock B series, yes even an ITR
Search QSD for the H2B kit...uses B series mounts, axles etc...only major difference is the H2B adapter and thats 700 retail...even if you put the two together 1100 for a motor that makes more power and torque than any B series swap...awesome.
Most guys tend to upgrade as they do the swap -- header, intake, exhaust...but you will do that anyway with a B series...but in this case youll be 200+whp where most B series would be like 160-190whp and make way more torque.
In 03 H2B didnt exist and you had to use the garbage H series trans...now you can use the B series trans which is MUCH better. Plus the H22 head has more potential than the B head.
Cant go wrong really...especially for $400 if its legit and clean
I agree with SergEK
You can have everything you need for less than a GSR swap and have significantly more power and torque as well.
$400 is a pretty damn good deal.

The weight isn't an issue, despite what some people will say. The weight distribution is a little off and the engine compartment will be somewhat cramped.
For $400, get it. Keep in mind it has FRM sleeves. They're super tough, but eat piston rings faster than normal steel sleeves.

I got my jdm h22a long block for $650 and I thought that was cheap.. the $400 deal is even better. But check and make sure everything is good. Btw I have an h2b swap. Best investment ever!
hmm since it's a good deal I think I'll buy it even if I don't put it in my car but if I do put it in my car what all will I need to go with it?
ecu,drive shafts,motor mounts,transmission....what else?

depending on your car you might need to rewire some things.
and a clean pair of pants after the first time you drive it

i love my h22, wouldn't go any other way
ask if he had a timing belt busted usaully those motors go for that much if something wrong with it..check inside the head their might be some bent valves..ask questions..and if everything is find..then thats a awesome price...go with hasport axles...

Even IF it was the weight that was the issue, you still wouldn't be able to use a stock civic axle.
The EXCEPTION would be, IF he already had a B series, AND was going H2B. But that's clearly not the case here.
Please keep the BS answers out.
well I dont think that he even has the parts for an H swap yet so he might as well start finding parts for a B series swap and just do an h2b while hes at it.. Unless he already has a complete h22 with transmission and axles etc but that isnt the case.. I dont even think he even bought the motor from that guy yet..
Oh, I doubt he has ANY parts for the swap yet either.
I was simply stating that no matter what the reason, he WILL NOT be able to use stock civic axles. And not simply due to the extra weight.
If I was him and dead set on going H22, he should buy it (if all checks out) Then piecing together everything he needs for an H2B.
