Default Quick release wheel: good security or are thieves too smart for it?

I have a Nardi wheel for my si, and I am thinking about getting an Nrg hub and quick release setup with a lock. Wheel + hub + quick release is well over 500 bucks. Do you guys think this will stop any thieves or will they be able to just bypass it? I'm hoping getting the lock for the setup will help. Nrg claims each key is unique. Would this mean that short of towing the car that no one could steal it?

I don't keep anything of value in my car, so there's nothing to take. I still have the stock Honda cd player in it. I have a nice alarm with a nice stealth install and backup alarm, but I'm still worried about theft. Having a quick release is worthless now without a lock, since thieves will come with spare wheels and just use the one they need to drive the car away. I hope the lock is effective. Anyone with any insight into it and it's effectiveness?

thats true, i new a few guys when they had the re-leashing wheel..2 clutch locks, and the boot, kill switchs and there car was stipped in the drive way and apt. parking.

with the wheel lock ...id say "true" thiefs will get past that just a heads up, and everything in a civic has value, and can be sold.

like how i came out in the moring once and both my clutch locks were broke in half and off the pedals....weird how there anit-breakable and bullet proof.

What kinda engine/mods, suspension? Interior? Do you have?(retoricle question)

like everyone says thieves WILL get it if they want it but if theyre only gonna make 500 bucks off your car theyre not gonna sit there and fight with your lock, club, alarm, ignition, all while risking getting caught.

So unless you got a k swapped turbo fully built rhd full ctr everything on real regamasters
I dont think theyre going to sit there and try to pick all those locks

Go for it dude

i call B.S from first hand exp. , theives will mess with getting that stuff off even in a busy apt. Ask the guys that took the time to sneak in my car...break my clutch lock in half even when it was 50ft from my window. lucky they didnt get it.

and they can make thousands off a car if its all top name brand stuff selling on CL and ebay.

but to the OP do everything to slow them down..releash steering wheel, 2-3cltch locks..alarms, boots, everything. id say 80% of the people that get there civic stolen didnt have anything or just an alarm.

they''ll go for easier targets(hopfully)

To the OP. Check this out for wheels/quick release. They actually have some pretty darn amazing deals on here.

Get it.. Its a good thief deterrent for your average theif in the neighborhood. When they see it, they will most likely give up hope on even trying to steal your car. Not many theifs can get their way around this one.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's just a bone stock 99si daily driver. Rota wheels and it's lowered and that's it. I don't want to mod it out since it's just a daily driver. I have locking Rays lugs since they're not too common and not many thieves have a Rays key with them like they do Gorilla lugs. The car is 98% stock, but it still has a b16 and that's all it takes. I took the si badges off and am gonna find an ex badge to hopefully mislead a few of them lol.

Hey I got a MOMO wheel with a NRG hub and Lock and my car has been fine bro that lock is damn near impossible to take off without that key . The hub lock comes with two keys so put the spare somewhere safe .But it has been effective for me i have no alarm at all just the quick release and that hub lock...

PNK SLP: did you have a nrg hub/lock? And alarm?

Im guessing you didnt or else they wouldnt have gone in and attempt to steal your car

Plus looking at your signature only proves my point further. You have an em1 on 15psi 400whp thieves will risk going to jail/getting shot for that.
Plus they were probably watching you for a while with more than
2 guys watching your apartment/parking lot and all the right tools.

When a thief sees clutch lock, hub lock, and alarm for a stock si theyre gonna walk away

More security, more better.

It takes thieves longer to steal the car if you have layer of security installed on your car.

You know the saying goes "if they want it they will get it"

I have the basic security on my 89 crx si:
Clutch lock
Basic alarm
NRG quick release with NRG hub, momo steering wheel, and a hub lock. (It's a must have if you have a NRG quick release)

there are many ways to get through things in order to steal a car. with the hub lock, its only one ball bearing that locks up that hub release.

i personally have it on my car, but think about navigation in the car so you can track it by satellite when your car gets stolen.

i have navi tracking system, many kill switches, clutch locks, and also the hub lock. no one dares to mess with my car. if they do, they will get caught.

here is my thread when i got jacked last nov. and recovered.

http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=2449922

tracking devices are the most powerful object from thief hands down!
